Trump Playing Both Sides of Cruz Birtherism.
On Thursday, Donald Trump tweeted, ".@SenTedCruz Ted--free legal advice on how to pre-empt the Dems on citizen issue. Go to court now & seek Declaratory Judgment--you will win!"
Trump's tweet is the latest in a series of statements wherein he seems to be simultaneously fanning the flames on Cruz birtherism, and saying it won't be an issue.
On Wednesday, according to CNN, he said, "How do you run against the Democrat, whoever it may be, and you have this hanging over your head if they bring a lawsuit?"
"This was not my suggestion. I didn't bring this up. A reporter asked me this question," Trump said. He also repeated his assertion that Cruz has a Canadian passport, which Cruz denied during a separate interview Wednesday with CNN's Dana Bash.

you are right, this declaratory judgment will NOT stop the likes of Alan Grayson and so on.....and it may backfire. Nothing to gain, lot to lose......he’s doing the smarter thing.

Oh I think Cruz can carry 8 states. Seems like a good chance for you to win.
the way I see it, his only path is to win Iowa, do okay in NH, and then win SC. He can’t win SC without momentum from Iowa....(which would also blunt momentum for Trump) - and I don’t see him winning ANY states unless he does this.
frankly, I think both men will be attacked for this, in one form or another.
Whether it is fair or not won’t matter to either of their opponents.

If he was genuinely concerned he could have given Cruz that advice privately.

He has not lost my support but I liked him better when he was attacking the real enemies: Obama, Hillary and Bill.

I’ve read a lot about Cruz and what he’s said and never read that.
Trump is only 69. Alzheimer’s does not usually show up that young. He may well get it in ten or fifteen years but he could still be a good president for four or eight years.

How about this. For the bet to take place, Cruz has to win Iowa. If Cruz does not the bet is off. If Cruz wins Iowa, he has to win 6 more states for you to win. If Cruz does not win the other 6 states I win. The bet is the same as posted at #119.
