Once the sanctions against Cuba truly lift, we could see a huge surge of sugar cane coming in from Cuba, which has ideal conditions for sugar cane production and the cost of shipping the sugar cane to the USA for processing is relatively low.

Can’t remember a time we didn’t have C & H Sugar in my home. As a young child we had it. During my youth and transition to adult, I’ve always had it in the home.

I wonder if this will affect C & H Sugar company.

They seem to have diversified their sources.

Hope this isn’t the precursor to it going out of business.

Growin' in the sun!

When you cook, when you bake, for goodness sake

Get C and H pure cane sugar

C and H pure cane sugar

C and H pure cane sugar, that's the one!

Oh Nostalgia.

On the Big Island we haven’t had sugar for 20 years. But sugar is what made Hawaii a state, that and Pearl Harbor.

Given how the local tax system works here in Hawaii, I’m not surprised one bit. The State government has long been taxing people and businesses out of existence here.

Has Pineapple production ceased as well in Hawaii? Back in the day (60’s, 70’s) You could always count on getting one as a gift from family and friends returning from vacation.

I remember when most of the north slope of Oahu from Wahiawa to Haliewa was nothing but sugar cane fields. Market forces at work.
