Professional Pandering -- Desperate Cruz, Dependent on Iowa, Flip-Flops on Ethanol Subsidies...
Posted on January 6, 2016 by sundance
In what can only be noted as "typically Cruzian" the Senator who sponsored the "Renewable Fuel Standard Repeal Act", which would have immediately repealed the ethanol mandate, has now reversed course and claims to support continued Iowa Corn Subsidies.
The pandering flip-flop becomes "brutally Cruzian" when the campaign for Ted Cruz denies the current change in position by pointing to a prior change in position; saying, in effect: when Senator Ted Cruz decided to run for President he changed his position, and in 2014 supported a five year phase out of the Renewable Fuel Standard.
So candidate Cruz was against Iowa corn subsidy, 2013; then became for Iowa corn subsidy (with phase out), 2014, and now advocates on behalf of corn subsidy in 2016.
Just like Senator Cruzâs advocacy for the Corker/Cardin amendment (Iran Deal); and just like Senator Cruzâs advocacy for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) within the Trans-Pacific Trade Deal; Ted Cruz is for them, until he becomes against them â only when the consideration of "them" is determined by the general approval of the electorate.
Got it.
"Cruzian" and "Clintonian" are now virtually synonymous.
[...] Farmers and rural communities across Iowa are going to be encouraged by Sen. Cruz's remarks. He is clearly listening to the people of Iowa and understands the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard to Americaâs economy and energy independence, as he started the caucus process calling for immediate repeal.
While not perfect, this is a big step forward by Sen. Cruz. (Iowa Corn Lobby)

puhhleeeze.. Iowa sucks and only has 4 million people.. the primaries should really start in in Tennessee and go east to west from there..
The corn whores in Iowa get way to much power with the primaries and frankly aren’t all that conservative to begin with..
sad to hear that Ted is bending to the corn lobby (if true) but it shouldn’t even be on the radar and corn subsidies should die a quick death..
and I’m Trump/Cruz... but I hate the hawkeye cauckeye or however you spell it...
Cruz can have Iowa - the rest go to Trump.. and that’s just reality and Cruz should start playing Trumps game and not be a politician anymore...(again if true, I did not research)
My Lord, for folks so jacked about Trump’s lead in the polls, you sure seem to look in the rear-view mirror an awful lot. :-/
Sundance’s vitriolic hatred fro Cruz is in open season again. You can post on his site the real answers but the responses by Sundance’s followers are not able to be written or spoken by myself. I feel viscerally threatened by them, so I quit reading or posting any responses. It is over the top hatred. I don’t know where it stems from, but it’s not pretty and it’s not Christian.
Yes, he did. He's now gone from completely eliminating it to gradually reducing it. That's changing your position.
Ted's own web site said he would eliminate it and not gradually over time.

2. TWENTY-FIVE FEDERAL ABCs
The rate at which we are spending is unsustainable. And federal programs often fail to support their purported beneficiaries while instead propping up special interests. There are far too many members of Congress who willingly hand out special favors to select industries and friends.
Letâs break the Washington Cartel and restore power to the people. Letâs stop handing over billions to federal favorites. We will sharply reduce the alphabet soup of government entities, beginning with the âABCâs that should not exist in the first place: The Agencies, Bureaus, Commissions, and other programs that are constitutionally illegitimate and harmful to American households and businesses. The following 25 ABCs are emblematic of the types of government functions I will examine, downsize, and reform to limit federal overreach. But these are just a start.
Eliminate the following Agencies, Bureaus, Commissions, and programs:
1. Appalachian Regional Commission
2. Climate Ready Water Utilities Initiative
3. Climate Research Funding for the Office of Research and Development
4. Climate Resilience Evaluation Awareness Tool
5. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
6. Corporation for Public Broadcasting (privatize)
7. Corporation for Travel Promotion
8. Global Methane Initiative
9. Green Infrastructure Program
10. Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program
11. Legal Services Corporation
12. National Endowment for the Arts
13. National Endowment for the Humanities
14. New Starts Transit Program
15. Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund
16. Presidential Election Campaign Fund
17. Regulation of CO2 Emissions from Power Plants and all Sources
18. Regulation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Vehicles
19. Renewable Fuel Standard Federal Mandates
20. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation
21. Sugar Subsidies
22. Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery
23. UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
24. UN Population Fund
25. USDA Catfish Inspection Program
Sundance: The Bush campaign in Iowa is “where the action is”.
Just like Senator Cruzs advocacy for the Corker/Cardin amendment (Iran Deal); and just like Senator Cruzs advocacy for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) within the Trans-Pacific Trade Deal; Ted Cruz is for them, until he becomes against them - only when the consideration of "them" is determined by the general approval of the electorate.
And he hasn't been any better on several aspects of immigration policy where the Trump effect moved him off his previous positions.
Exactly. They are looking desperate. They may feel like king of the Internet forums, but they are turning off the average voter. Definitely they are running off people they will need in the general should their candidate win. I am more and more thinking I cannot vote for their guy no matter what. We’ll see.
should have read “ aren’t all that conservative”
they have turned Iowa into a big white gibmedat... bah bah bah on Iowa..
Senators all have one universal problem and that is they do not know how to manage or delegate. They micromanage and rule over people. Does not matter which one. Whether it is Obama, McCain or Cruz they all have that curse.
So Cruz now is running all over Iowa with a bus strapped to his butt in a chaotic attempt to appeal to voters because only Cruz can win the day.
That is a senator for you.
Enter Trump. Notice how Trump is going out of his way not to appear in a panic to stump in Iowa. Trump is an executive who delegates, who thinks things through, and who carefully calculates. He gets the best of the best executives to do the job for him and they have their marching orders. So they March. Trump could not manage a $12 billion empire if he did it all himself. Trump knows and is very clear on the idea that there is no way he can win if he does not delegate. This is his strength and Cruz’ weakness.
You do not see Trump running all over the place in some lowly bus. That simply is not the Trump brand.
Look for Trump’s poll numbers to “unexpectedly” surge a few hours before the start of the Iowa caucuses by about 5-10%. The msm cannot lose too much face for having lied about Cruz’ poll numbers and they will end up having to fess up that they are fudging the figures a bit.
Great link pookie...the smear attempts won’t derail the Cruz surge one bit.
This would be like printing an article that says: “Obama supports Bush tax cuts until 2010” since he allowed the 10 year cut to expire without asking for renewal from Congress.
“Sundance” really sounds and writes like a DU Troll. Every article that comes out of Conservative Treehouse looks very suspicious. I smell troll.
Even Cruz's monkeys at Hot Air are reacting negatively to this. Cruz even called for breaking the "blendwall," as Hot Air notes:
"And it wasn't just the RFS. Oh no! Ted came out with a promise to break the blendwall. Limiting the total blending of ethanol to 10% is the only thing keeping the flood gates partially shut on this mess as it is. What are you talking about Senator Cruz?"
Cruz previously opposed even there being a "minimum" amount of ethanol, which Hot Air quotes, but now wants to break the "blendwall." Hot air continues:
"The difference is that I clearly compared this position to the one Ted Cruz has taken with us at various stops, including CPAC, where there was no talk of a phase out. He said repeal and received well deserved accolades for it. And if you donât think that Cruz has been doing that, donât take it from me. Take it from Amanda Carpenter who is pushing back on this the hardest."
This is a typical case of Ted Cruz not telling the whole story to conservative audiences when he is pandering to them. He did the same thing for 9 months on immigration, not bothering to tell them he was not taking legalization off the table, until Marco Rubio forced his hand (and even that had an attempt at lawyer jargon).
GFY Joe. If that is, you can pull your lips from Trumps ass long enough to accomplish that act.
Speaking strictly for myself of course.
Cheers!
Oh man, that is more than a flip flop. He is major upping the ethanol ante.
Geesh. It is worse than we thought.
Yep. Looks like St. Raphael is becoming the John F’n Kerry of the gop.
He was for it before he was against it.
You sure like posting BS articles. This was shot to hell 5 min after it ‘broke.
Is she OK and feeling better? I heard that she was worried sick!
At that same CPAC appearance (along with others) Ted Cruz agreed with many ethanol lobby opponents that blended gas causes problems in certain engines and the E10 blend mandate should be removed, not just because mandates are bad, but because ethanol can be problematic, and so people could easily get ethanol free gas if they wanted it. Now go read that editorial that Cruz published in Iowa again and pay attention to the part where he talks about ethanol being an effective additive.
Because of this EPA wall, the market is currently dominated by low-level ethanol blends, such as "E10" (10 percent ethanol and 90 percent gasoline). That has prevented mid-level ethanol fuels, such as E25 or E30, from reaching American consumers.
If allowed to reach the market, mid-level ethanol products like E25 or E30 could prove quite popular with American consumers, who are increasingly concerned with fuel economy. Ethanol is an effective fuel additive because it increases octane and decreases harmful tailpipe emissions.
For those trying to twist my words, I never said he was calling for an E25 mandate, but that he was suddenly very flattering toward it as an option. If you donât want to admit that this is a very different tone and essentially a quick spin around the dance floor with King Corn, I donât know what to tell you.
And finally (thank God) I hope we can just drop the idea that any criticism of someoneâs favorite candidate on a single issue amounts to a declaration of war or a call to drop him out of the race. Any regular readers who are being honest know that Iâve published one favorable article after another about Ted Cruz and come as close to endorsing him as I have any of the candidates. Should I remind you that I began this article with a link to an extremely glowing piece I published about Ted Cruz on this very issue way back⦠oh, when was it again⦠oh, yes. YESTERDAY. If you want to pretend that Iâm now suddenly some sort of fifth column agent working to destroy Ted Cruz, Iâm not going to take you seriously.
I recommend reading this in its entirety.
