Raw Data from USGS Worldwide Earthquake List

M 5.1 Nuclear Explosion - 22km ENE of Sungjibaegam, North Korea DYFI? - V

Time 2016-01-06 01:30:01 UTC Location 41.308°N 129.049°E Depth 0.0 km

There are no seismic plots published, no "calibrated seismic plots from kown US or Soviet underground explosions.

Oboma's Pentagon spokesmen claim they "doubt" North Korea exploded a nuclear bomb.

So, who do you believe?

Oboma? Or the seismic data?

A small yield is not necessarily a good thing. A 10 kiloton hydrogen bomb could very well be a neutron bomb, i.e., low-blast, high-radiation, anti-personnel weapon.

A bit snarky:

The USGS earthquake data has ALWAYS been posted on the Drudge Report for years.

This particular data was at http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/#{%22feed%22%3A%221day_m25%22%2C%22search%22%3Anull%2C%22listFormat%22%3A%22default%22%2C%22sort%22%3A%22newest%22%2C%22basemap%22%3A%22grayscale%22%2C%22autoUpdate%22%3Atrue%2C%22restrictListToMap%22%3Atrue%2C%22timeZone%22%3A%22utc%22%2C%22mapposition%22%3A[[-47.98992166741417%2C42.890625]%2C[82.1183836069127%2C299.1796875]]%2C%22overlays%22%3A{%22plates%22%3Atrue}%2C%22viewModes%22%3A{%22list%22%3Atrue%2C%22map%22%3Atrue%2C%22settings%22%3Afalse%2C%22help%22%3Afalse}}

I think they’re parsing, in that it was not a Fusion device. I do find the magnitude of the quake interesting. The largest Richter scale reading I am aware of was the Cannikin shot of 5 MT at a depth of 6000’... that was a 7.

Wikipedia offers a formula to convert nuclear bomb yield to Seismic magnitude:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moment_magnitude_scale

A 45 kiloton bomb would account for a 5.1 magnitude seismic event. This is an atomic bomb, not a hydrogen bomb.

But, to be honest, this one works better - but starts off focused on the US. You’d need to pan sideways to “see” yesterday’s North Korea earthquake.

What concerns me is not the specific “magnitude” of the blast - although that “is” important to rank North Korea’s nuclear bomb “engineering” (Its machining expertise in exotic alloys, its theoretical physics and transition from physics to design, its weapons material purity, its geometry of the warhead, its conventional explosive designs and machining and execution.)

The “engineering” is what builds a weapon. The “physics:” is merely the math telling the engineers and machinists what size they need.

But that the NorK’s have gone far enough in their conventional nuclear bomb technology to decide to try for a PUBLIC H-bomb explosion is what is troubling. A H-Bomb will kill 10 to 20 times the people and area a A-bomb affects. S, transporting and building an H-bomb to the detonation site is just as hard and as expensive as transporting a A-bomb.

But will kill many more.

If they could NEVER explode a A-bomb is best. Hillary and Bill gave that birth. Far better that they had aborted THAT decision. But she is for sale.
