Cologne Mayor’s ‘Arm’s Length’ Sex Assault Advice Stirs Outcry

BERLIN — The mayor of Cologne has inflamed a debate in Germany about migrants and sexual harassment by suggesting that women can protect themselves from men on the streets by keeping them more than an an arm’s length away.

The remarks by the mayor, Henriette Reker, were made Tuesday to reporters after the Cologne police said they had received more than 90 complaints of robbery and sexual assault, including two accounts of rape, by groups of men who targeted young women in and around the city’s main train station in the crush of revelers on New Year’s Eve.

By Wednesday, Ms. Reker was being widely ridiculed by commentators and across social media for putting the onus on the victims of the attacks.

“It is always possible to keep a certain distance that is longer than an arm’s length,” Ms. Reker told reporters on Tuesday, suggesting that city authorities would provide guidelines for young women who find themselves surrounded by aggressive men attempting to grope them.

My wife and I visited Cologne in 1989 and had to stop to see the magnificent Gothic cathedral there. It sits just up the hill from the very train station where this muzzie mayhem took place.

As I thought about that, it struck me that this site was selected by these muslim “immigrants” PRECISELY BECAUSE it sits in the shadow of one of the grandest symbols of the Christianity on which scores of millions of Germans and other Europeans have turned their backs.

I am hard pressed to find a more fitting metaphor for what’s going to continue to happen in the vacuum created by our abandonment of the faith of our fathers here in the West.

And it will only get worse.

(Bracing for massive flames from the agnostics and atheists in here for even MENTIONING the OBVIOUS root of the problem.)

Don’t be surprised if some mullah or ISIS leader coordinated this with muzzies in Germany by phone. The b@stards love their symbolism. Don’t forget that huge fire in one of the Gulf states on New Years Eve.
