I don’t know enough about the markets to even play in the “little boys” park...however I have family members that do therefor I’ve learned just enough to hold “table” discussions somewhat without being out of the loop entirely.
I do recall reading an article that does say to forget what the market does and instead watch what the Big Players do and do likewise....however I’m not so sure I buy that.
The Big Short gives the BIG NO to your second sentence. Yes watch what the Big Players do and contemplate doing the opposite after due diligence. Please see the movie and tell me your thoughts afterwards. You will learn a lot, most of it very upsetting. Basically it covers the run up and crash of 2007 and 2008 which nobody saw coming.

Actually, when a totalitarian regime controls its media, it not only causes bubbles from home-grown investors, but it also causes bubbles from foreign investors. Without freedom of the press an investment is rarely as good as it seems.
