Maybe I'm over reacting ? I would have no problem submitting myself for a pat down, I support a high level of security, but I feel invasive touching of Children crosses the line, unless credible evidence exists.
On 12/30/15 TSA ordered a full Pat Down of my 10 year old daughter & detained us for over an hour (see YouTube video of the Pat Down, the link is below)
TSA policy states PAT Downs of children under 12 should be method of last resort.
In my 10 yr old daughter's case, after clearing metal detector, a forgotten Capri Sun juice pack was found in her hand bag by x-ray & agent swabbed bag resulting in a false positive.
Rather than retesting bag or alternate screening methods, my daughter was immediately ordered to submit to a full body Pat Down, and I was told I could not record the process. Luckily I knew the law regarding video recording and agent subsequently allowed me to record.
TSA policy states children under 12 will receive a "Modified Pat Down" yet my 10 year old received a full adult pat down. I feel it was intrusive, invasive, and unnecessary.
TSA made it clear I would be arrested if I resisted the search of my daughter.
TSA attempted to persuade me to allow my daughter into a private room, I felt safer with the general public surrounding us and refused several efforts to whisk us away.
TSA agent repeatedly touched my daughters buttocks and other sensitive areas with her palm & fingers not back of hand.
The writer needs to get a life. First no one has to submit to a pat down. You can leave. Not a great option but it’s there. Then post the video but in slow-mo. Then wail and Nash your teeth that your precious had her butt touched.
I saw a male coach pat his girl player on the butt after a great play. He was instantly mortified but the parents laughed it off and said it was just a swat on the butt. They didn’t deify the daughter’s anatomy.
The TSA is nothing but a Federal jobs program for perverts. It should be abolished forthwith — or even firstwith.
The next time you and your family are planning to fly anywhere have all of the females dress in burkas. End of problem.
TSA=Totalitarians Screwing America.
TSA needs to go, I wonder why we did not get rid of a government agency that mostly hires low intellect government workers with job security, BS all around.
How about East Asian? Oriental?
I don’t know about not trusting the poster, but he or she does need to spell correctly.
It’s not “buttox,” either.
And I hope the child is not as upset as the parent.
Holy crap, dude. Were you molested by a blogger once? What is your problem with bloggers?
I’m thinking that they DID profile her because she’s dressed modestly in a long skirt. If she had been wearing tight shorts and a tank top they wouldn’t have fondled her. You are obviously flying while Christian.
TSA - The enduring legacy of Schrub. I hate the Bushes.
Last Monday, trying to fly home from Denver, my 85 year old mother forgot about a Kleenex in her pocket. Yup, her punishment was a full TSA part down. Hours before we had attended my uncle’s / her brother’s funeral! Isn’t pocketed Kleenex standard dress code for 85 year old women???
Give me a break.
If you were a pedophile looking for “enjoyable” work, where would you apply for a job? My guess is that this TSA agent knew the answer to that question.
Some of us have eye problems.
I for one.
Because of that, proof reading is a maybe thing.
Sometimes I don’t run spell check on short posts because “I looked at it and it looked OK”.
Only to see a typo after it is posted.
Once upon a time, long long ago, I hunted regularly with a fellow who could not even read or write his own name. But farming or in the woods he was one of the smartest people I have known.
Also in my business, I dealt with many workers who worked by the hour, who never finished high school, and I found many of them to be top gun in their profession.
I never would criticize anyone for misspelling or poor sentence construction. When you do that, you lose communication with someone who might have information or knowledge that you want or need.
Judge a person on his mind and ability, not on spelling or grammar.
I once broke my rule. I had a programmer that worked for me that was a genius, but his email and other written communications were terrible.
With great reluctance and with the desire to give him a little fatherly advice, I mentioned to him that he should learn to compose written documents better. I saw in him a person who could go along way if he polished that up.
I was embarrassed when he informed me that he has dyslexia.
Yet he was unequaled in the ability to write code.
So lighten up.
“TSA attempted to persuade me to allow my daughter into a private room, I felt safer with the general public surrounding us and refused several efforts to whisk us away.”
Smartest thing she could have done in this horrible situation. At least there are cameras and witnesses.
This person is presuming to write “articles”.. ostensibly for the purpose of “informing” people.
He or she cannot spell the main point of the “article”.
This throws doubt onto everything that follows.
Jacks up the whole message.
Fail.
I’m wondering if the 10yr old girls presence ‘caused’ the false positive that ‘necessitated’ the molestation...
Be worthwhile looking at the pc’s and phones of the TSA agents at that checkpoint and see what was there...
Certainly not.
Why reward someone for illiteracy?
Somebody wants hits. None from me.
I would say that your experience is the exception rather than the rule so much so I find that you are extremely luck or the possibility you have some ‘skin in the game’.
The one thing that makes me say this is the total lack of the TSA ever taking responsibility for any of the numerous SNAFU’s and clear abuses that occur regularly. No one is every fired no even demoted they merely shift people around until the thing blows over.
Funny how many people get mad a cops for mostly doing their jobs, will protest and riots and when the TSA is caught flat footed and red handed abusing someone (How many times have we read about vets, elderly and young children and mothers subjected to outrageous behavior) and the harshest thing the TSA comes up with is they will review their protocols?
Look up the saying:Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely and a picture of a TSA agent is surely there.
