Donald Trump Hangs With Christian Prosperity Teachers

Prosperity Gospel Preacher Paula White Prays For Donald Trump

Going back to 2011, Trump has had an association with Paula White. They jointly issued a special invitation to Brian McLaren, an "Emerging Church" false teacher, to meet with them. McLaren's teachings include a heavenly utopia on earth; "re-imagining Christianity"; the unimportance of the atonement of Christ; Christianity is a "little true"; masculine pronouns used to describe God are wrong; Gandhi followed Christ, and other unBiblical doctrines.

Concerning "Dominionism", it's a leftwing attack on the Christian faith first used by Rachel Maddow in 2011 against Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry.

From this 2011 article:

"There has been great gnashing of teeth in "progressive" circles of late over "Christian Dominionist Theology."

The Dominionist Manifesto

The vile attack we see here on Free Republic is, quite simply, nothing but the very same progressive attempt to attack and deride Ted Cruz's Christian faith to try and prop up progressive Donald Trump.

Finally, about the troll who posted this thread---anyone unfamiliar with him should look up his posting history for a bit of illumination into exactly what he is. You'll find a history replete with name-calling, insults, and profanity.

Ironically, you'll also find him posting on the Religion forum, but---not so ironically---the tone of those particular posts clearly shows a person who is there to use religion as a weapon in order to win arguments. Nothing more.

This is a person who railed that Mark Levin is a stupid chimpanzee, a fraud, and a knuckle-dragging buffoon...because he criticized Trump:

And then there are those Jews who don't do Jewish stereotypes and conspiracy theories any favors:

#18

He is a liberal troll whose rantings should be dismissed out of hand.

In short, a manic personality in need of treatment.

The “chimpanzee” thing echoes directly back to the Koranic “apes and pigs”. That would be hardcore antisemitism from my POV.

You have been doing some serious work! Good job exposing the hypocrites and their smear jobs.

Wow, thanks for the research.
Only surprise is the hardcore trumpees care not about facts.
Never seen anything like it. They are worse than Obama and Hill’s supporters. At least progressive’s defending their own is one thing, but so called conservative’s blind allegiance to progressive Trump — they know not what they will get were Trump the nominee but they will want their votes back if that happens.

Its hard to discern whether you are suggesting the Dominionist Christian ideology should be more widely acceptable to to main stream Christianity, or simply employing a tu quo que style argument that Trump has similar ties to the Dominionists also.

Care to clarify?

When Trump attacks conservatives, it’s often from the Left, strangely enough. Often using Leftwing talking points. He did it to Walker on his record in Wisconsin, and he’s used the same tactics on Cruz when he says he’s not a team player.

This is somewhat significant in that it shows Trump associations with “prosperity gospel” types, so could be useful if this issue raised by GPH continues.

However GPH did say in his OP that Trump has such ties (so it’s not that controversial, at least as far as GPH’s post is concerned) and also Trump isn’t running as a “conservative Christian” candidate, as his supporters are all too happy, maybe even gleeful, to point out. Kinda makes one wonder, actually, how important “social conservativism” is to some people. But I digress.

Thanks Catherine, it’s a useful post in among a sea of backbiting (on both sides really). Useful because it also sheds a little perspective on the “Dominionism”, the subject of the OP. Perhaps there are some shades of that movement to consider here, some of which aren’t “prosperity gospel” but merely re-emphasis on core Christian values. It’s just not “denominational”, which maybe irks some.

You also raise the criticism of “guilt by association” being used against Cruz here. The third to articulately do so, if not more in less than cooth manners.

I’d like to see you respond to it GPH. Is it, alone, a good enough reason to dismiss Cruz? If so then the further associations Catherine points out here must be considered wrt Trump. How many are too many (for Trump)?

I think I’ve read enough of the thread. I’ll await your response (if any).
