Ted Cruz Gets Biblical as He Rallies Campaign for 2016: ‘We’re Winning and It Terrifies Them’
Independent Journal Review ^ | January 1, 2016 | Justin Green

Posted on 01/01/2016 8:32:30 AM PST by Isara

Sen. Ted Cruz enjoyed a banner end to 2015, building a strong argument for being the top movement conservative in the Republican presidential race.

But on New Year’s Eve, he was looking ahead to future battles. The Texas Republican told a conference call for 56,817 of his volunteers, according to The Blaze:

We're winning right now. And as a result, I want to tell everyone: Get ready. Strap on the full armor of God. Get ready for the attacks that are coming."

He added a warning:

"We ain't seen nothing yet. ... In the month of January, we are going to see millions if not tens of millions of attacks - of TV commercials, radio, of social media, of mailers," Cruz said. "And actually as it gets closer and closer to election day, it's going to get uglier and uglier and uglier."

Then he dropped the big line of the call:

"We're winning and it terrifies them - you terrify them."

Cruz noted that he believes the primary will have been decided by the end of March, according to CNN.

A number of southern states have primaries on March 1, and Cruz has been aggressively organizing these states for strong performances among the deeply conservative voters in the region.

Cruz reportedly raised nearly $20 million in the last quarter of 2015, bringing his year-end total to more than $45 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

He is in second place in the RealClearPolitics average of GOP presidential polls, and with strong fundraising and a huge volunteer army, he looks set to take stab at the Republican nomination.

Thanks for showcasing Trump’s charitable side.

Those pics are from a charity that netted over $5M, thanks to Trump’s participation.

Trump doesn’t talk the talk....and ask others to step up to the plate....he walks the walk, and gives of his time - to benefit others.

I would readily vote for Cruz in the general, but I got 7 fund requests yesterday from Cruz. Irritating and frustrating. I am still not on here trashing him. There are candidates from the uniparty that have earned negative comments but trashing Cruz or Trump is uncalled for.

“but trashing Cruz or Trump is uncalled for.”

Fortunately you don’t get to be the decider. That’s why they call it “Free” Republic. :-)

You don’t think Trump and Cruz are fighting Islam?

Joseph could have refused to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt because, after all, Herod’s murderous threats were just “political”. You don’t think Satan tries to intervene in the physical and spiritual world? Wowza.

But like I said, show me the Scripture you base that assumption on. Show me that Esther was not spiritual when she protected her people. Show me that God was too “spiritual” to lead the Israelites through the Red Sea. Show me that the Apostle Paul had nothing to say about the effect of what Nero wrought upon the public. Show me where God says that some areas of our life are separated with the label “politics” and we are not supposed to wear our spiritual armor within that area of our life.

I’m waiting. If it’s in Scripture as you claim, it shouldn’t be difficult to show me where Scripture says that Satan stays away from “politics”.

And while you’re at it, reaganaut, maybe you can explain why the Founders were wrong to say that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That is a very clear statement about original sin. Do you believe that original sin impacts “politics”? Do you believe that political lies matter to God? Do you believe that government oppressing people, stealing, killing, and destroying is spriritually/morally neutral and thus out-of-bounds for Satan to get into a knock-down-drag-out battle with us?

From a Biblical perspective what you are saying makes no sense whatsoever. But show me the Scriptures that make your case - that Cruz should have recognized that the battles for truth, life, and justice are non-spiritual and there is no need for the weapons of our warfare.

I am Lutheran. I recognize the difference between the right-hand and left-hand kingdoms. But I also know that if the German princes had not politically/physically protected Luther, you would have no Bible that you could read today. Was that a spiritual battle? You dang right it was. And if the German princes had gotten too heavenly minded to be any earthly good, billions of people would have lived their lives without access to a Bible they could read and understand. You think Satan wouldn’t have loved that, and wasn’t battling spiritually with the princes just as surely as he battled spiritually with Luther in his cell?

Trump’s favorite charity is Trump. He is financing his campaign on donations that are paying 30% of his costs straight to his own companies. He’s making out like a bandit.

So says the amnesty pac pusher.

LOL....No Sale.

Trump is the ONLY candidate NOT beholden to amnesty donors/PACs.

The fact that you slam and mock Trump’s charitable works is pathetic.

Consider the book of Job as an example of Satan's main milieu. Original sin, combined with a maniacal pathology can explain Stalin, Hitler et al.

However, attempting to secure secular power by muddling forth religious missives is not Christ-like.

God works equally through sinners and the saved. Being saved does not a good President make - we had Jimmy Carter.

To be enmeshed in religion and to be Biblically sound, Cruz should ask everyone at his town halls to commit to Christ - because if he wants to follow a calling he should save souls, not run for public office.

You don’t believe God has any other vocation for a person other than to call people to Christ? Of course, we call people to Christ, but does that mean we don’t collect garbage, provide nursing care, or other physical labor?

There is a call for politicians who understand Satan, and it is NEVER inappropriate to tell somebody to put on their spiritual armor. NEVER. But especially if you know that the hordes of Hell would like to get rid of them, their testimony, and their effective stand for truth, life, and justice.

I’ll be gone for a couple days. Hopefully it will give folks plenty of time to explain to me why that one area of life - “politics” - is outside the need for spiritual armor.

Excellent post! Even the Lord Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but Thine be done.”

I pray God keeps Trump safe. I have never asked God to cause Trump to win the election. I wouldn’t presume. I petition God to do whatever He is willing to do on behalf of this country, particularly to deliver us from the evil of the last seven years. I then leave the rest in God’s hands. He is the only one who knows the end from the beginning.

The GOP is full of self-righteous purists. The ones in my county are some of the nastiest, backstabbing two-faced people I know. Please if Cruz is your candidate that is good but realize that there are other people with differing opinions.

Would it be unseemly for me to ask you to cite any Biblical passage where Christ instructs us to use his message to advance our secular goals - versus storing up one's treasures in heaven. We spread "The Word" by testimony of our spiritual awakening, explaining salvation and then asking for a "general calling" for those who care to listen. Quite simple really.

I have a visceral reaction to anyone asking me to put on some spiritual armor for a political campaign. It raises more than a red flag.

The Apostles (specifically Paul, Ephesians 6:10-18) asked us to put on such armor in defense of our personal faith - and only in a personal defense of our faith so that we may stay in grace and pray "with all perseverance and supplication." This claim by Cruz is nothing more than a perversion of scriptural directives - and I do not use that term lightly. As I have posted, I am a member since 2006 and this Cruz campaign has gotten me motivated to post.

Yeah. I never have followed Trump. I’m pretty young so I don’t know most things that he’s done. What was he there for?

“...the extent to which the media is ignoring the piles of red meat that Cruz is offering...”

Yes, as in explaining why he votes for the Obama agenda and then condemns what he voted for. I think Rush says that Obama campaigns against his own policies.

“I think Screwtape would acknowledge that Satan plays terrible games by telling people that TRUTH doesn’t matter in the political realm.”

How many voters believe that TRUTH does not matter in the political realm? Calling politicians liars is the chief complaint with EVERYONE. It is only the MSM who likes it.
