'Affluenza' teen's mother back in U.S.
Tonya Couch, the mother of "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch has returned to the United States. In video obtained by CNN, the mother can be seen in handcuffs with U.S. Marshals at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Texas prosecutors have said Tonya Couch will be charged with hindering the apprehension of a juvenile, and if convicted, faces between two and 10 years in jail.
A Mexican immigration official with knowledge of the case said Ethan Couch's attorneys had filed a writ to seek protection and block his deportation. If the teen confirms his wish to go forward with that approach, the case would go to trial, and proceedings could take months, the official said.
"At this time we do not have a time frame. We do not know if the Mexicans have the highest priority on this case like we do here in America," Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Richard Hunter told reporters Wednesday. "It's on their time schedule. We've seen these things happen as quickly as two weeks to two months."

Something an expensive defense attorney made up to have a paid off psychologist say.
I didn’t pay a lot of attention to this case, and didn’t realize four people were killed but I just googled it. What a horrific event and frankly, the little POS should have died in the accident. I can not believe this judge let him loose on society and we can only hope Couch meets his fate someday.
Couch should have gotten more, Miller less.
Color me not surprised to hear about Couch pulling similar acts to Joran van der Sloot in the somewhat near future.
These are crooked people with a successful business. I wouldn’t call them affluent or royalty. The father has had several run ins with the law, and I believe the mother has her own reckless driving arrest.
Leave the punk in the Mexican Jail.
Amen
All three of them look like low-life to me.
It may depend on how much his mother donates to the Clinton Foundation.
.24 was the BAC. I can’t even imagine that kind of drunk.
Do you know what business the parents own, and where?
“I can see why she is divorced.”
Yes! In that photo she looks a bit like Debbie Washerwoman Shultz!
That punk kid is like O.J. Simpson. They both got away with murder the first time but their criminal behavior continues and in the end they end up in prison.
I at one time she may have been hot. That is no longer the case.
Media sure is giving this tale of a bond jumper a lot of play.
A couple of days ago, I heard a news report that Mexico was kicking them out as ‘undesirables’.
How many Mexicans in America kill someone in a drunk driving accident, then jump bail and return home to Mexico? How many of them are sent back to the US for trial/punishment?
Wasn’t there a case where Mexico was fighting to get a murderer released (or refusing to surrender a murderer) because the US has a death penalty?
Undesirable indeed.
Yeah, AFTER 3 hr of waiting for the test.
If mommy hires the right Mexican lawyers and they know where the pesos go, little Ethan’s stay in a Mexican jail might not be all that bad.
If mommy is in jail herself and can’t keep the pesos flowing, then little Ethan might be in for a “memorable life experience” taught by Ernesto and Pedro.

Justice is a commodity. You get as much as you can afford.
empowered the teen with such a strong sense of entitlement, he couldn’t be held fully accountable for his drunken driving killings of four people
Justice isn’t just punishing the transgressor. It’s also to deter others from committing the same crime.
The truck, loaded with six teenagers in the cab and two in the bed, then hit the pickup with the two buckled-up boys, and flipped into a tree. The collision sent the ministerâs pickup into the road, where it hit an oncoming Volkswagen Beetle."
