They had settled up! From the link; “It is not directly clear why the $7,000 was confiscated by the state prior to Christmas. Monday’s check of nearly $137,000 included interest accrued for not paying the state on time. According to Starnes, the check was for the full amount owed to the state’s government and was raised through donations to the family.”

From elsewhere in the link, it looks like the $7,000 was seized a few weeks ago, and the check sent yesterday. So, the state seized the $7,000 before they settled up.

(In any event, I was referring to the scummy practice of seizing people's money before the holidays generally, not just this case.)

135k for refusing to bake a cake!!!!

Meanwhile you can cross our borders illegally and no one cares.

You can sell our national secrets to our enemies and no one cares (see Hillary Clinton).

You can openly talk about Jihad against the US and killing all of our people and no one cares.

And you people JUST KEEP VOTING FOR IT. *giggle*

God I love Obamaland. :)

and what position are they in... to be engaging in retribution??

They levied the fine so they're the ones who are collecting it.

Man I love Cruz. but Trump would really hit the situation hard. IF he believes the way we do. He had gay guys and gals on his show.

What makes you think Trump would really hit the situation hard? Based on anything he has said or done? Cruz is the one who is talking about upholding the Constitution and returning the question of marriage to the states. Now that may not help the people in Oregon, who would probably approve gay marriage in any case, but it could help in other states.

How does the government, without violating the First Amendment, have the right to take God's money?

I'm guessing because God's name is not on the account?

This family must be getting amateur or unsophisticated legal representation.

I agree that their legal representation leaves a lot to be desired. Almost six months after the state upheld the fine and they're still only considering an appeal? I would think they would be in court the day after the fine was upheld.

What about all the Muslim bakers that refuse same or Gay bakers that refuse anti-homosexual cakes? This is so wrong.

If any are in Oregon then you can file a complaint with the same organization that fined this couple and put them out of business.

The state seized what funds they could get their hands on before Christmas. They settled up on Monday, after Christmas. Obviously the “Fund Me” money wasn’t in one of their bank accounts.

There is an appropriate response to the shockingly evil leader of Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries and the predatory lesbians who harmed these innocent Christians. However, elaborating on that response might not be prudent.

I hope those evil people receive justice soon, whether from God, from Karma, or elsewhere, and that they eventually face trial for denial of rights under color of law. That crime carries punishments up to and including the death penalty, and I would fully support their (lawful) execution (after a more fair trial than those thugs gave their victims) for undermining the First Amendment.

18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law:
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution . . . shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

I would like to see that fine overturned right after the recipients have the proceeds spent. Make them take out a loan with interest to repay the full amount. The "judge" should also be prosecuted for misconduct given the inappropriate relationship he has with the local gay organizations. The decision was a matter of corrupt influence.
