Harper’s spokesperson said Trudeau would score points if he managed to show up to the debate with his pants on. He did, and I guess he did. Underestimating your opponents can only make you trouble.

From what I heard, Harper was blamed for what was characterized as a bad economy. I'm guessing his opposition convinced voters they were in dire straits and the only one to lead them out of this supposed mess was to elect the commie Trudeau.

Sounds vaguely like the tactics used by Obama and his supporters against George Bush.

He is not a head of state but he is on the lunatic left so that qualifies him for the state visit. Another slap at Britain and the Queen who is the Canadian head of government.

Your comment on what was heard fairly close to the facts. Week in week out the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, chipped away at Stephen Harper. Added to that the newspapers of note got in their ten cents worth.

Justin Trudeau cut a figure befitting a matinee idol. Now there was only an 8.1% vote that swung the election. Previously the Conservative won the majority with 39% and Liberals 31.8% NDP got 22%. Last time out in August the Liberals got 39% and Conservatives 31. It was a swing vote of 8.1% that counted. Such are vagaries of the parliamentary system.

Justin Trudeau showed up at the airport to give out winter coats to the new arrivals from Syrian problems. He is able to milk photo ops to a fine art. It is an absolute love affair for a number of Canadians. Alas, Americans have seen it all before with their President.

A bit of a rant here, but with the first snow coming in Ontario, I had to vent.

Thank you for the information on the election. I remember Trudeau's father and he was bad enough. Looks like the son has exceeded the father.

I liked Stephen Harper, but of course, I was admiring him from afar here in the States. What impressed me was his address to the nation after the terror attack in Ottawa lat year. He sounded like a good leader to have in a crisis or a tragedy. We used to have presidents like that. Now we have Obama who in a tragedy apologizes to the perpetrators and/or pushes a political agenda (such as gun control). I don't want to wish another tragedy on Canada, but I'm willing to bet Trudeau would probably be the same or similar should another terror attack occur.

Stay safe during your first major snowfall. I think ours in PA will be here in a few days. Too bad. I was enjoying this global warming. :)
