Buchanan: An irreconcilable conflict? (Clash of Civilizations)
theledger.com ^ | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 12/27/2015 4:35:05 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Did the worst attack on the United States since Pearl Harbor, 9/11, have nothing to do with the Islamic faith?

Did Fort Hood and the San Bernardino massacres, the London subway bombings and the killings at Charlie Hebdo, as well as the slaughter at the Bataclan in Paris, have nothing to do with Islam?

Does the lengthening list of atrocities by terrorist cells of ISIS, Boko Haram, al-Qaida, al-Shabaab and the Nusra Front have nothing to do with Islam? Is it really illiberal to inquire "into the religious opinions" of those who perpetrate these atrocities? Or is it suicidal not to?

There has arisen a legitimate question as to whether Islamism can coexist peacefully with, or within, a post-Christian secular West.

For, as the Poet of the Empire, Rudyard Kipling, wrote: "Oh, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet, Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God's great Judgment Seat."

As of 1960, the Great Wave of immigration into the United States from Southern and Eastern Europe had been halted for 35 years. And the children of these millions had been largely assimilated and Americanized.

Yet, 50 years after the Turkish gastarbeiters were brought in the millions into Germany, and Algerians and other North Africans were brought into France, no such wholesale assimilation had taken place.

Why not? Why are there still large, indigestible communities in France where French citizens do not venture and French police are ever on alert?

I didn't know that Rudyard Kipling wrote the infrequently played fourth verse to "Buttons and Bows".

Some assimilate and some do not. In the West we do not want those who have no possibility of becoming patriots, guardians of the constitution and of freedom itself.

Those who do not have any possibility to transcend any connnection to sharia law need not be admitted to America.

Find a way to separate the good from the bad.

Make no mistake, the West is under invasion by the Muslim world. It is demographic warfare.

All the Kipling in the world is no substitute for an M-16 on full auto aimed at a pack of ISIS terrorists.

Somehow we went from a single person seeking political asylum to hords of invading refugees and we are all forced to believe that our country or countries are a refuge for anyone who wants to wander in. What the globalists are doing is NWO engineering

There has arisen a legitimate question as to whether Islamism can coexist peacefully with, or within, a post-Christian secular West.

NO. Islam as Islam (a system of total control of every aspect of life) is completely incompatible with any other system of organizing and governing groups of people. Apostate Islam can slide by for a while until someone starts reading and acting on the Quran, Hadiths, etc.

Second question: "Can a post-Christian secular West continue to exist with neither a moral compass nor any objective basis for civil behavior and society?"

I was having a discussion yesterday with someone about this very thing. I do not believe that free societies were ever meant to operate without Judeo Christian principles.

Freedom does not mean to function free from God, it means to live freely, UNDER God’s ways. The controls really need to come from God living within us.

I think the cultural decay we are witnessing in both of our countries is the result of freedom, WITHOUT God’s influence.

Islam has never been a religion of peace.

Islam has been at war with everyone else since 622 A.D.

It must remain so until there is only Islam.
Or no Islam.
Mad Mo made it so.

The future must not belong to those who deny the true nature of Islam

John Quincy Adams on Islam

In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.

Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).

To live freely under God’s ways, eh? How about when someone decides that my freedoms are not compatible with the dictates of the “God living within” him?

Oh, wait, that’s how the goat-molesters do things. . . .

Find a way to separate the good from the bad.

You are missing the larger point of the article. Are the values and tenets of Islam compatible with Western Civilization and modernity? Islam is more than a religion. It carries its own political structure to govern. Can these views ever be assimilated in the West? Is this a clash of civilizations that can only be resolved thru conflict?

Steyn put it this way a few days ago when sitting in for Rush..... he called it 'comparative sanity': "If you think that John Kerry is normal and right when he says that the guy standing on a table and yelling, 'Allahu Akbar!' has nothing to do with Islam, then yes, Trump is out of his head."

Some have called Kipling the greatest of poets, I will not pretend to be qualified to judge but I certainly would never argue against it. I continue to marvel at “The Gods of the Copybook Headings”. I think my public school literature classes would have been much more valuable to me had Kipling been stressed more and some of the others less.

An American is something one’s children can become in a single generation, or even a determined new immigrant within his own lifetime. Not so a Frenchman, German, or Englishman. Double the problem when the immigrants have no interest or intention of assimilating but instead think and behave like an alien virus intent on changing their new home to be just like the $#!+holes they left.
