He's not 'one of the guys' on the trail, but he also didn't seem to belong in the Ivy League - or even among politicos
The weather has finally cooled a bit, and that can only mean one thing: time for Ted Cruz to dump his ill-fitting suits and ties for his even iller-fitting collection of flannel shirts and leather jackets. The #Cruz Country Christmas Tour (in a private jet) is under way and headed to a town near you.
Why does the Texas senator lumberjack around America when the temperature drops? Is he trying to create synergy with the cover of his latest book?
That's possible, but the real reason Ted Cruz wears flannel shirts and leather jackets in the winter is because he wants nothing more than to be perceived as one of the guys. Not just because it could win him the White House, but because he's always been that kid in school that had no friends. The one whose parents made him insufferable by constantly telling him how much better he is than everyone else.
Cruz's father, Rafael, has been brainwashing his son since he was about four years old to believe he's "gifted above any man he knows" and "destined by God for greatness", the kinds of delusions that were guaranteed to get him stuffed in a locker by junior high.
Unfortunately, training to become Daddy's little messiah didn't leave Cruz time to develop even the slightest sense of style, and GQ has some stern fashion advice for him.
"In general, we're not exactly sure why presidential hopefuls think that oversized, awkward leather jackets will make them seem more, 'relatable to voters'," the website said on Tuesday.

Looks like the lovely lady is also wearing something similar.
Now try to imagine any of these media rags writing a piece like this about Hitlery or Obama...
I’m wearing a flannel shirt right now.
Its a fairly standard part of the flyover country uniform.
We found his wife’s wardrobe wanting. Never saw anything on 0 that made him a sharp dresser. Maybe his muslim garb was all we needed to see.
So was this article written by a leftist hack or a Trump supporter? It’s hard to tell the difference out here. Especially when some of them have indicated that the main reason they won’t vote for Ted is because the suits he wears don’t fit him.
I remember a period where all the buffoons on the left wore ties with stick figures of little kids on them while at the same time they were pimping hard for abortion. Hypocites.
Other than when in uniform or very formal clothes, I have never seen an Englishman in anything other than baggy trousers, baggy ill fitting coats, etc.
And this from the Guardian?
And of course Michelle Obama is the epitome of elegance, just like Jackie Kennedy!!
I will be wearing a brand new Volunteer Firefighter Shirt from my Department. Proud of it and proud of Ted Cruz.
Substitute brack o’bama for Ted Cruz and this screed makes sense.
Kind of.
But, as usual, the Left misses what is substantive - what Cruz stands for in word and action. Picture Lincoln getting Leftist reviews.
I think Trump has and will pierce the Leftist veil more effectively than Cruz - but with Cruz as Trump’s VP, Cruz could fairly easily walk into the presidency after a good-to-great Trump presidency the way Bush did after Reagan.
Sixteen years of recovery and possibly the beginning of a new era of freedom in America and the world.
Senator Cruz is a Texan.
Texans wear flannel shirts when the weather turns chilly. I don’t think I know a guy down here he doesn’t own at least one plaid flannel shirt.
Adlai Stevenson was a sartorial frump, but to the left that was a mark of his professorial bearing and a sign that his mind was far to busy to concern itself with such mundane matters as clothing.
Well, we have plenty of politicians with style and no substance.
People with intelligence and values don’t normally waste a lot of time and effort to keep up with the latest fads and gossip.
Muslim garb should have dead giveaway. I will never vote for a candidate who dresses like a muzzie.
You and me both. It’s actually considered fashion in northern Alberta I’m pretty sure. I cannot get any female agreement on that, but we all know most females have no fashion sense anyways heh.
