The door to Illinois continues to swing outward more often than it does inward.
New data released by the U.S. Census bureau showed that in terms of domestic migration — people moving about within the United States — Illinois saw roughly 105,200 more people leave than arrive.
Even when offset by a gain of more than 37,600 by way of international migration, Illinois still ended up about 67,500 in the negative column.
With natural growth (births minus deaths) counted, Illinois showed a net population loss of nearly 22,200 people, or about 0.17 percent of its population.

Lets say the trend continues through 2020...the next census...they’d have to lose at least one...maybe two representatives. I’d say that would be a positive.

If a sane census policy prevails, and representation is determined SOLELY by citizenship population, not by all people in a state (including illegals), it will surprise us which states lose House seats, and the related voting districts. But this will be a good thing, as the current districts which vote most strongly democratic will be decimated by denying them representation for its non-citizens.

The Californication of the Rocky Mountain states has been horrible. They ruin every place they touch. Same for the damage done to Florida by the people fleeing the NE and the Rust Belt over the last 40 years.
If they would just leave their Liberal Politics behind, it would be okay. However, the opposite seems to have happened with California migrants to Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Colorado. The same can be said for Northeast migrants moving to North Carolina and Florida. You would think that the reason they left those places was to escape the taxes, laws and regulations which made living their unpleasant. Not so, I guess.
That is what happened in NJ and NY - and their governments push all the more aggressively to let in ANY foreigners to prop up the housing markets and public school systems. My town, which had been predominantly Scottish & Irish 40 years ago, now resembles Lima Peru with an “American quarter”.

These people should have to wear ankle monitors. They’ve FUBAR’d one state demonstrating they are too stupid to be free.
I think one reason they carry those liberal ideas with them to the greener pastures is because while we hear the mantra “Kicking the can down the road, for our grandchildren to deal with”, the fact is that Americans who increasingly don’t have CHILDREN don’t lose sleep over the fate of others’ GRANDCHILDREN.
Terrible winter last year, tornadoes and hot muggy summer combined with out of control liberals in Chicago and at the capitol can be an incentive to leave.
We have relatives in the Illinois conservative counties. If it was not for families and friends, they would be running.
Many have become snow birds in the winter and travel bugs during the summer.
We see the same with senior conservatives in Oregone and Washington. They get into their RVs and drive south on I5 to Southern California, Nevada and Arizona for the winter from the last weeks in October and early November. Then, they go back after Easter. Many have given up on the political process due to the massive number of free loaders in their states, voting for the rats.
If you’re retired and have paid off your mortgage, you face some of the highest property taxes in the country around the Chicago area. Makes all the sense in the world for Illinois retirees to sell their homes and move to a low property tax state. They’ll save several thousand dollars a year.

Oh, that’s BS! Most people have children (not as many as they used to but they still have one or two) and they vote for “can kicking” every chance they get. Ever hear the Democrat mantra, “Fo duh chilluns”??? They’ve been playing that tune for at least 40 years and they are voting for stuff for their own children and figuring that their children will do the same one day for their grandchildren.
Actually, I doubt that. The lib’s constituencies aren’t the ones that tend to be dissatisfied, the ones getting raped by taxes and regulations, etc. Yes, there is a % but IMO it’s a minority. The more conservative people are the ones mostly likely to GTHO and with the means to do so. Moving ain’t cheap, no matter who it is.

Since 1980 Chicago’s population has declined more than 10%, while NYC and LA have grown 20% and 30%.
Same thing North of the border. Conservative Alberta, (3.3 million in 2006, 4.2 million in 2015) now has a socialist government. This is due, in large part, to and ‘invasion’ of leftist ‘Easterners’ from ON, QU, and the Maritimes. Of course, we also have a LOT of new Canadians from such delightful locals as moslem Africa, Middle East and Pokeestahn.
I admit to having come from ON, in my case, it was an ‘escape’ from the socialist East. Unfortunately, too many lefties invaded Alberta thereafter!
Precisely, they will be replaced by Arabs and Latin Americans.
