Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Wednesday blasted Ted Cruz after a POLITICO report quoted the Texas senator telling a donor that fighting gay marriage wouldn't be a "top-three priority" for his administration.
"Conservatives are being asked to 'coalesce' around yet another corporately-funded candidate that says something very different at a big donor fundraiser in Manhattan than at a church in Marshalltown," Huckabee said in a statement released by his campaign Wednesday afternoon. "Shouldn't a candidate be expected to have authenticity and consistency, instead of having to look at a map to decide what to believe and what to say?"
Cruz's stance, expressed privately to a group of moderate Republican donors in New York earlier this month, seems to contradict his public statements. In June, for example, he told NPR that gay marriage opposition would be "front and center" in his campaign. But in July, he rejected a Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, insisting marriage is a state issue.

Huck’s butt-hurt over that endorsement Cruz got. But this stinks of Rubio.
Fair enough.
I've been thinking about that lately -- esp. the TARP thing. It is possible to my way of thinking, and recollecting the events which I followed closely from the financial services industry perspective, that he was discharging his duties as he saw them as president; that to hamstring the effort to shore up the system (whether one agrees with that effort or not) would have been a shameless dereliction of his duty. I'm sure he knew quite well who was coming into office but after all, that person had been duly elected and the American people were about to get what they wanted.
I mean to say that his oath of office and his ethic left him no choice.
Yeah, Huck, make sure you make your other two points Wipe out the common cold and No More Cockroaches. Because gay marriage isn’t going away.
I think butt hurt alone covers it.
Remember how Huckabee and his staff muscled Cruz out of the shot during the Kim Davis rally? He’s got a real sense of entitlement when it comes to evangelicals. See his whining about how his support for members of “the Group” didn’t buy him their endorsement. He sees this as his chance of exploiting a contrived issue to appeal directly to evangelicals.
At the rate the country is going, if we do not elect a leader who can crush the illegal immigration, crush the rampant spending by congress and crush the islamic threats to our homeland; gay marriage wont even be up for debate because there will not be a homeland left to even sponsor homosexuals marrying.
I heard that he lost out on a job to the ShamWow guy.
Isn’t Club for Growth one of Ted Cruz’s big donors?
No. I am doing this because the story poster is a Trump supporter playing dirty by stirring up trouble for all other candidates. I hate that.
I have no idea who Club for Growth supports. As far as I know, no one yet.
I just want to make posting smear threads in support of Trump not worth it. I know you and others are pro Trump and I’m not out to get your candidate. I am out to make a point with the poster.
Give them their ObamaCare like the rest of us sods. They’ll either go quietly or quickly, their choice.
“Kim Davis rally?”
Oh that’s RIGHT! Forgot about that.
Yes, they are one of Cruz’s donors.
