IMHO until Ann pays some kind of damages she and, by extension, the Washington Post have learned nothing.

Unfortunately too much education involves some degree of pain and/or embarrassment (hence grades, the use of red ink, and extra PT).

To make the point that what she did was an embarrassment to the Washington Post Ann needs to be sent home for a week or three without pay. That minor inconvence might serve was a warning the next time, and there will multiple next times, she attempts to replay this incident.
