Patches for the units of George Patton's First US Army Group- which didn't exist, except for some troops assigned to move dummy balsa and canvas and inflatable equipment around, and radio operators furiously sending coded messages between other nonexistent units.
But the patches for some of those outfits were made up, and some were distributed so that *neutral* freign diplomats and others could observe them.

They Employed (Drafted By Order of the Crown) the best magicians Britain had, at that time, as well.

I just remembered this ghost army was the premise of the spy flick ‘Eye of the Needle’ with Donald Sutherland where he learns on the eve of D-Day in 1944, phony plywood “airplanes” intended to look, from the air, like Patton’s invasion force, but it’s a ruse to throw off the Germans.

And now we are being played with a hoax that is almost the opposite; we are being invaded by an enemy army, that the media claims “does not exist”.
Apparently, we have nothing to fear except the lack of fear.
History repeats, but sometimes it inverts.
