Holman Jenkins at the Wall Street Journal took a look at Donald Trumpâs finances over the weekend, and suggested the outspoken billionaire might not be able to afford to keep a serious national campaign going past the first few states:
None of his offenses against propriety seem to have dinged the support that, in a crowded race, keeps Donald Trump atop the GOP primary polls.
Republicans are now talking about a brokered convention, which could be a disaster for the country, and for the GOP, and quite possibly hand the election to Hillary Clinton without a real contest or even critique of her agenda.
So goes the fear. But unless we miss our guess, our long national nightmare-cum-sketch comedy show actually has a termination date. It will end the moment campaigning begins to threaten Mr. Trumpâs finances and business interests.
Actually, as Jenkins notes further in his piece, Trumpâs campaign already has already damaged his business interests:

Trump can’t afford something? Ha!!!! That’s hilarious. What weed has the author been smoking!?
Can’t afford to run?! He’s mastered running for almost nothing! The losers this year are the media and the political class that makes millions each election cycle. Nothing from Trump.
Republicans are now talking about a brokered convention ....
That would mean we have a strong 3rd party. The GOPe would be out of business.
Unless the banks are told that not one dime is to be lent to Trump under any circumstance or else "bad things would happen". Nice bank you have there. Too bad the Treasury Department has decided that you've overstated the values of your assets and are now under water.
There are two ways Trump can do this. Ether finance his own campaign, or just buy off the republican members of the government. God knows he has enough money to do ether, and we all know the republicans are for sale. But Trump being Trump, he takes the most efficient rout to achieve the goals.
I don’t think these clowns at the WSJ or GOPee are good a getting the best bang for the buck. The seem to suck at it.
The establishment if fighting tooth and nail to keep the HISTORIC GOP FRONTRUNNER from winning.
Ponder that.
If major news networks report stories like this about him. I’d say that he can not only afford to run, but the msm is paying for most of it for him.
“Lent”?
Dude, it’s his billion dollars. Cash.
Trump has spent 300 grand so far to Jebra’s $34 million.
I think he can run for president no problem.
Roger Stone Launches Pro-Trump Super PAC
Carl Icahn, Supporter of Donald Trump, Plans $150 Million ‘Super PAC’
Hillary ( who’s looted the White House and sold official favors for untold millions to our enemies included, and whose hubby has been psid off in the tens of millions for his “service” ) — has told us she’s a broke destitute poverty case ready for — if not already on - food stamps - . Yet, the author doesn’t question that she can afford to run - indeed he suggests she’ll win —— Amazing, isn’t it?. Multi- billionaire Trump “ can’t afford to run” yet the pitiful starving homeless waif Hillary can.
Also he has a great deal of money ( liquid assets ), as well as not so "liquid" assets that he can use; not to mention his ability to get extremely large personal loans.
Liberty-loving Americans will send in the money to finally bust the uni-party monopoly.
Yep they and Bush are silly clowns like the WSJ dingbat who wrote that piece.
Yep, Trump entered this race thinking he’d have to spend millions, has spent a few hundred thousand, and is about ready to win the nomination.
As things have gone so far, this guy could conceivably win the presidency with less than $1 million spent.
And they think he’s going broke?
Wow, it is amazing what new angles they can come up with. This has to be a real scrape the bottom of the barrel hail Mary.
Trump to establishment: “You can’t afford to stop me!!!
!0 billion is 10 thousand million dollars...
Not like he’s going to run out of money... And since he’s getting all the air tie for free, it’s doubtful it’s going to be more than a whopper with cheese to the rest of us...
Go trump...
