GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump says the Republican National Committee (RNC) should disqualify candidates from primary debates who have failed to file paperwork to get their names on the ballots in major states.
âNow, if I were running the party, Iâd say, âExcuse me, if you canât win the state of X, a major state, if you canât win Virginia because youâre not allowed to go in, or if you canât win South Carolina or you canât win this one or that one, because you didnât file, that means itâs taken off your list, youâre not allowed to be in the debate anymore,â â Trump said at a rally in Iowa on Saturday.
âWhen youâre at like, this guy [former New York governor George] Pataki, heâs been at zero for months. He couldnât get elected dog-catcher in New York. The guyâs at zero for months. And he keeps on staying and staying,â he added.
The Republican primary front-runner said the bloated primary field does not allow for serious policy discussions at debates.
âWe need more time,â he said. âYou know, when weâre talking about terrorism, I donât want to be given 30 seconds. âMr. Trump, in 30 seconds, what would you do about terrorism, sir?â I said, â30 seconds?â â
He also said unpopular candidates are âwasting a lot of timeâ and âought to get outâ of the race.
Trump said Democratic primary front-runner Hillary Clinton should not be in the race due to an FBI investigation into a private email server she held while secretary of State.
âI mean honestly, she should not be allowed to run. And in a recent Fox poll, I beat her easily,â he said, referring to a Fox News poll Friday that actually showed him trailing Clinton by 11 points head-to-head.

Trump had led Clinton an a previous version of the poll, which may have been what he was referring to.
The billionaire businessman insinuated that Clinton takes time away from the campaign trail in order to rest because she lacks vitality.
âShe goes away, she goes back home to sleep, she doesnât have the energy â Iâm telling you â she doesnât have the stamina, she doesnât have the strength,â he said.
Cut the number of people on the stage back to no more than 5 candidates in the next debate and call it good till we get a better picture of where things stand.
Trump’s right about the low poller’s and about should be felon Hellary.
He’s right that the debates would be more substantive if they narrowed the field. And that could position the GOP better for the general election.
But for right now, in the primary, it’s probably helping Trump. And while Cruz has picked up some significant support from declining players, Trump has picked up more. The slope of Trumps growth is steeper than Cruz’s.

The lower tier actually get more TV face time because there are fewer of them.
Even that, however, is not helping them rise in the polls.
Still, let them hang on. The real voting starts next month. Let the primary results dissuade their continuance.
Some of are just feeding their over-inflated egos & cheating voters.
Best reason and way to winnow the field. If they can't get on the ballot in all the states, why have them on stage?
If my State allowed Independent registration, that is what I would be registered as.
I’d rather the low pollers’ support not go to Rubio at this particular time.
I want a stake driven thru the heart of the GOPe’s chances this election season.
I’ve said for months that anyone under two digits needs to go home.
Has anyone listened to you?
Trump is right. Too many schmucks on the stage in those debates, and this shows up the Dem party that they would rather win with a prolific liar felon than lose. Um, whoops, it shows up the Dem voters as the same too...
What is he afraid of; a little competition from people whom, he claims, he has nothing to be afraid of?
They can’t boot them without booting Jeb. And they won’t do that. Kens finders, who knows who they are, his family, foreigners, probably Hilary herself, own the GOP. Trump knows that. He’s hotta say this though because it’s right. Jeb and all the others need to go. It’s getting just weird and the front runners are not getting a chance
Trump actually benefits from the inertia built into the debate cycle. There are maybe 2 other candidates who can seriously challenge and it is they who can’t gain traction in the polls because 2-percents like Lindsay Graham won’t give it up.
So why is he so afraid of the low-polling crowd? Those numbers won’t go to him.
I wouldn’t say that Trump is ‘afraid’ but rather ‘mistaken’ about whERE the supports of a Jeb Bush would go if Jeb were to get out. They aren’t going to back Trump the way I see it.
So you have to wonder what kind of game is Trump playing here?
I don’t wonder about Trump’s game: it’s all about feeding his ego at the expense of others. That’s always been his game.
