Disney Parks have installed metal detectors and banned the sale of toy guns and costumes for anyone over the age of 14, as of Thursday.
So much for my wife and I packing the Chip and Dale costumes for our big trip.
E! News reports the measure will be taken "through the rest of the holiday season," but it isn't clear whether the changes would stay in effect afterward.
A man was arrested last weekend for trying to bring a gun into Disney World, according to the Orlando Sentinel, which quoted a statement from Disney saying, "We continually review our

Sounds about right.
Yep that’s how it is.
I heard that major league baseball has metal detectors and security checks now to enter the ballgame.
Its crazy to think that we will face more and more places where you have to go through security screening just to enter and go about your business. Imagine if we get to where supermarkets and shopping malls and subways start doing this.
All this security greatly increases the hassle factor of life, and makes you think twice about what’s in your pockets and your purse when you go places.
Wouldn’t it be nice to do our screening at ... oh ... let’s say ... THE BORDER?
If we don’t have people among us who might want to kill us, we could go about our everyday lives without metal detectors.
Disney has created a great environment for a mass shooting by disarming the good guys.
We had planned to go to Disney World this summer.
Screw Disney. We’ll vacation somewhere else.
The continued pussification of America. Thanks cultural Marxists, feminists and social justice warriors.
Banning costumes for anyone over the age of 14?
So much for Gay Day then.
Gonna kill revenue in the Star Wars section of the park.
1) signs to clearly say that the owners do not allow guns
2) and the business assumes liability for any injuries or death that result from a disarmed citizen.
They have rides in which you use guns to, get this, shoot things! Went to Disney in January and I remember getting on the Buzz Lightyear ride and shooting things. Are they going to get rid of those rides as well? If not, that seems kind if hypocritical.
Wally World is better, anyway. When they’re not closed.
I wonder if Disney is going to be banning toy sword sales? What about blasters (from, ya know, Star Wars)?
What a maroon.
I was just thinking that! No blasters from SW? Better ban lightsabers, too.
The terrorists in California were planning on shooting people in their cars on the freeway in 2012. They were going to kill the first group of drivers then the traffic would back up and they would kill as many as they could. The plan did not go in effect as they had friends who wound up on a watch list and they thought they were could be watched too (they weren’t).
What Disney is doing is the least of what they can do. I do hope they have people with rifles to stop any terrorists that show up.
