CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: If you define amnesty as he does, as citizenship. Yes, he fought that. If you define it as allowing people who came here illegally not to suffer the consequences of illegal entry, which by law should be deportation, he did not oppose that. It is very clear that he supported that. And as you showed last night in that big showdown, many, many pieces of evidence like his interview with Byron York and others, and what he told the Texas Tribune, he, at the time, said he was in favor of a compromise that would take the 11 million out of the shadows and give them legal status.
I'm not sure I understand why he is doubling down on denying what you can demonstrate with pieces of tape. Perhaps he sees that it's worked for other candidates. He could have easily have said circumstances have changed. We now have terrorism, infiltration and all of that and I have shifted over, which I think is a rather minor difference. But he's decided he is going to go whole hog on the other side.

Do these guys really have any credibility anymore? Trump and Cruz have reduced them to being little toy men/women.
Was the case where Cruz said he would support amnesty on the condition that the illegals wouldn’t get voting rights...and the Democrats choked?
So, playing games to call the Democrat’s bluff is now promoting amnesty?
Calling Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh. It’s time for you guys to blister Fox News’ GOPe ass and get the truth out. Enough is enough.
Another good reason not to watch these “pundits” on cable and mainstream mews channels.
Kraphammer is a piece of garbage, Never was a cinservative, isn’t a conservative, and never will be a conservative. He is a RINO per excellance.
If you give them legal status, a lib judge will give them all citizenship about 10 minutes later.
The poison pill BS is 100% spin.
Dr. K has a reputation of being really sharp so he must be pretending to not understand the legislative Jiu-Jitsu Ted played on the Gang of 8.
Looks like Krauthammer is doubling down on lies of omission and half truths.
Political journalists are mostly professional liars and wishcasters
Every pundit at FoxNews who appears between 7 and 10 PM must receive the same memo with talking points every day. It’s clear they have fully aligned this week in their full court press against Ted Cruz. When John Sununu appeared on Greta a couple nights ago I nearly vomited in reaction to his blatant shilling for Rubio.
Krauthammer is a worthless moron so stupid he jumped head first into a pool and paralyzed himself, but he’s right on this subject.
“Doubling down”, as applied to the idea of a path to citizenship, is an interesting concept.
There are, no doubt, good and worthy persons among the flood that has swarmed over our borders in recent years, but there are also some really bad actors, and the problem has been, which are which? WE DON’T KNOW. And there has been minimal effort to determine any consistent standard by which we may be able to make the judgment call.
Commit a crime and get arrested? Serve sentence, and be deported. Seems simple, except the prisoner is released, and instead of immediately going away in compliance with a deportation order, they are out on the streets and in the wind. Manage to deport them, and sometimes as little as 24 hours later they are back in country, no effort made to check their re-entry. Deport them over and over, and it is just a revolving door.
Build the cuffing wall. And enforce the applicable law.
If you give them legal status, a lib judge will give them all citizenship about 10 minutes later.
so it passed then, right? Oh, no, wait...it didn’t? And it didn’t pass in large part because of this amendment? Hmmm...kinda sounds like a poison pill to me.
You might wanna just go ahead and come out...you wont be judged too harshly for wanting to have Trumps baby.
Note the reference to the Tribune interview. That interview occurred after the gang of eight fight was over.
The "it was just a ruse for the gang of eight fight bill," as problematic an argument as that is (because it means all his stated support for legalization during the gang of eight fight was a lie), doesn't resolve the problem.
Cruz cannot escape this argument. Unless Cruz's entire support base consists of the sort of people who might walk in on their spouse laying in bed with someone else, and then believing their lying spouse when she/he tells them they're hallucinating, then Cruz is just going into a world of hurt.
The media is going to keep asking him about legalization until the crack of doom.
Yes, it was a ruse to pretend to support it while eviscerating it from within, Ted Cruz is actually guilty of not being a dammed fool.
So, Cruz lied and hiding behind his definition of amnesty. Won’t work. Anything short of deportation is amnesty. Legalization is amnesty.
Actually, it passed the senate. Nearly passed the House of Representatives too, but Dave Brat's victory threw a monkey wrench. Probably if Cruz's amendments HAD passed, it would have had an easier time passing the House as well, exactly as Cruz advised them.
Mark did a good job on his show last night daring FoxNews to play the Chuckie Schmukie clip about Rubio’s total involvement in the Gang of 8 bill.
You have that right, Charles has been exposed as a Mondull hack, (who vocally opposing Reagan in 79-80) he has become unwatchable.
