GOP Sells America Down the River (RUSH)
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | December 17, 2013 | Rush Limbaugh

When you surrender the power of the purse -- and that's the primary power the House of Representatives has. Not a penny of money can be spent in this country by this government without the House of Representatives authorizing it.

Obama can spend all he wants, but if the House doesn't give him the mechanism, he can't spend any of it. But the Republicans squandered that. They gave up the power of the purse. The reason they did that is because for some inexplicable reason, they are literally paranoid and scared to death of even being accused of doing something that would shut down the government.

So to avoid even the accusation that they were going to or would ever even think of shutting down the government, they signaled that whatever Obama wanted to spend, he would get, because they figured that had less damage to them politically than the allegation that they were shutting down the government. So, very simply, ever since the Republican Party became the party of keeping the government open at all costs, we get bills like this. There's simply no stopping the Democrats. There's no mechanism. Every constitutional mechanism found in the power of the purse, Separation of Powers, the Republican Party years ago gave it away, in total fear of the media.

Now, there's also a factor that needs to be mentioned, too, and that is that many Republican donors want every bit of this money spent, and they have donated voluminously to key Republicans in order to get the money spent. So it's not all Republican fears. It's not all Republican caving. A lot of it is Republican fealty and loyalty to some of their donors.

As usual Rush is right.

This outrageous deal is going to tie the hands of the next POTUS for at least two years. Be that Trump, Cruz, or whomever.

On his radio show, Michael Medved is praising the budget deal. He says he can’t understand why conservatives oppose it, and he contends that the alternative would be a government shutdown which would be more expensive.

This is getting really old. Even the conversation about it is getting really old.

Well, my guess is Obama told him the usual "Convert or Die" and Paul took the road less traveled.(And that has made all the difference!)

It's the lesser of two evils.

It's explicable all right. They play scare-D-cat in order to "passively" advance the collective agenda: spend spend spend for the sake of power power power.

Pundits gotta keep up the "analysis" so they can play too. What a circus. The Big Top is gonna fall and the muslim hordes will take what they want.

This budget even gives Obamacare cover by delaying some of the most harsh aspects of it. And the reason for that is, delay the harsh aspects and you prevent people from learning what they are, at the same time you get more years for the tentacles of Obamacare to deeply weave themselves into the fabric of society, making repeal of the thing more politically difficult. So you could also say that the Republican budget bill actually improves the odds of Obamacare surviving and growing. You have to look long and hard for this whole thing to find any opposition to anything the Democrat Party wants.

They've got a bridge to sell.

Rush assures everyone regularly that the Republicans aren’t as bad as the Democrats...He’ll have credibility when he refuses to support the likes of Jeb, Rubio, Christie, Kasich and Ryan. He always finds a way to pretend that this is a Democrat only problem

When I voted to elect a Republican congress in 2010 and 2012 and 2014, I believed I was going to see a halt to most of Obama's agenda because the GOP would cut the purse strings.

They didn't. They didn't even make a good try at it.

Everyone of them was afraid the media would trumpet "Republicans shut down the government!!!"

First of all, the media, as it is currently constituted, needs to be murdered, and second of all, we didn't lose that original fight. Nobody really gave a sh*t when the government shut down. People didn't care.

But the media made it seem like a great disaster, and the crony Republicans claim to believe that it was.

The Republicans should have shoved the power of the budget up Obama's Obama, and broke it off.

They are pathetic weak losers and they need to be tossed out of office.

> Too many GOP leaders from Blue/Purple states.

BINGO ! But even worse it is by design.

Do you ever wonder why the primaries are front loaded with purple/blue states instead of solid red ones?

Another demonstration that our nation is doomed. No matter who is elected as POTUS, this financial insanity will not stop, and financial collapse is inevitable.

The financial doom of our nation is far more likely than isolated individual attacks from Islamists.

If we feared the pending financial doom as much as we fear the Islamists, there might be some hope.

But this is exactly right. The nation took its eyes off the GOPe in Congress, who immediately voted as traitors............

They're not scared, they're complicit. If that weren't so, they couldn't go after conservatives with such gusto while pretending to be helpless when it comes to their “worthy opponents”. They're getting something out of this, all of them are.
