A Christmas Carol(1951) with English actor Allister Sim as Scrooge. I must agree, the best version. I'll add "It's A Wonderful Life".

That one IS the best version! More authentic to the time and place.

I love that film with Sim in it as Scrooge. I've been watching it every Christmas for y-e-a-r-s. There is another English Scrooge film from the 40s-50s that I like, but I can't recall the name of the actor who played Scrooge.
This film ends with Scrooge going to the home of his nephew and his wife, and joining them in a Christmas feast with music, friends and dancing.
