There were âsmiling facesâ from the crowds exiting the Los Angeles premiere of The Force Awakens on Monday night. Amongst these, presumably, were Disney executives ecstatic that the $4bn they paid George Lucas for franchise rights looks to have been a sound investment.
Initial reactions from all three screening rooms where the film was shown for the first time â as well as from social media â suggest that JJ Abrams has the chops to please both critics and fans, and that The Force Awakens may well recoup at least half the $4bn by itself.
A journalist for the Hollywood Reporter was one of the first to tweet following the event, at which mobile phones were confiscated.

It reminds me of the fools that use to go to “professional wrestling”. Most had IQ’s in the sub 90 range or they wouldn’t have been there. Really the mental age of anyone focused on this “star wars” tripe is about 12.
Ha— Me too. I was watching Trump win again, with out any question. It was mesmerizing. Have a good night!!
“Irony”
I really liked how Wendle used a ridiculous movie to berate another movie he deems ridiculous.
Wendle is a master.
You know that’s not a bad idea having a flashlight even without the gun. The new 272 lumen’s Mini Maglite Led Pro flashlights are blinding.
In that case, thank you for your opinion, and for not making it some kind of standard by which you expect everyone else to live. That would be "adolescent."
I agree. He is definitely a once in a life time candidate. I am quite excited to finally have a person that I am not holding my nose to vote for. Practically every other election I have had to do that. It is actually refreshing.
These are really cheap:

I always carry one with me everywhere as part of my EDC.
Let the RINOs hold their damned nose. We have been doing that for 20 years!!
Thanks. Yes, you sure can’t beat that price.
Yes!!!!! Post of the night by far. I love it and you are so right.
Thats quite an assumption and an arrogant generalization re. SW fans. I’ve been one for 30+ years and my IQ is 145. I think football obsessed people are rather laughable.
Just an itch that has been hitting me since San Bernardino.
You're not alone. I heard two guys at the bookstore (in the toys and games section, which was piled high with Star Wars merchandise) mention that concern.
I'll see it on the big screen, but I'm going to wait for the mania to burn itself out a bit.
I have no interest in giving didnee land any cash too which is why Kodi is such a great thing to have on your puter. The TVMC download comes with enough stuff pre-installed that you don’t need to add more unless you want to. Cancel cable and satellite and go with a higher speed Internet.
Taking my daughter Sat morning. We’re avoiding the mad rush.
Lucky - I am overseas and don’t come home till the 20th. I am holding off to see it with the family.
Carrie Fisher hasn’t aged well.
Apples and oranges. You can develop a character a lot more over a 16 episode season than you can during a two hour movie.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why all of the people on this thread who have a CCL, think that our government isn’t doing enough to stop terrorism, and are convinced that this movie will be the target of the next ISIS attack on our homeland don’t take the gun to the theatre and see if they have the right stuff to stop innocent Americans (including a lot of kids, undoubtedly) from being killed by terrorists. Are you heroes or do you just like to feel like you’re smarter than everyone else?
