Rush Limbaugh today criticized Donald Trump for his attacks on Ted Cruz, but upon being informed the media thinks he turned on Cruz, Limbaugh insisted he did no such thing.
In case you missed it, after Trump called Cruz a "mania" yesterday who can't get anything done in Congress, Limbaugh today criticized him for echoing the establishment. He said, "Any of you who are holding out hope that Trump is a genuine conservative... a genuine conservative would not go after Cruz this way."
Well, during his show, Limbaugh founds out the media already picked up his criticism. He clarified, "I havenât turned on anybody. I haven't thrown anybody away. I haven't announced support for anybody."
He insisted he was just disappointed and asking a question about Trump's attack on Cruz "because it sounded like the same kind of criticism we would get from the establishment Republicans."
Limbaugh did muse over whether Trump would turn on him next, but figured it wouldn't happen.
For what it's worth, Limbaugh wasn't nearly as restrained in his criticism as Mark Levin was later in the day.
So much for Cruz being humble.
That in itself is not something we’d expect in a Presidential candidate, though.
We will see what happens tomorrow.
You know CNN will try to get them fighting.
Stop misrepresenting Trump supporters. Thanks.
I do not consider Rush an entertainer. I find him entertaining, but to me he is politically astute, and has done a lot for your country. He has educated the masses considerably, for which he should be commended. He makes money doing it, which is the way it should be - if nobody liked what he said, he’d be off the air.
yep. Trumpees cannot handle the truth.
You have a point. Its also important to remember that Rush and Levin are to some extent entertainers. They have radio shows and they have to keep audiences interested so controversy is interesting.
Trump did however, very calmly and quietly said enough that people are now going to start watching Cruz more closely. Sort of like Jeb has no energy and is there a problem with Hillary’s health.
I always love Trump’s comebacks. So much subtext.
With his history, anybody who is NOT suspicious of Donald trump is a damn fool
So true!
Still, I am happy either way. As long as we get Trump to be a wrecking ball or if Cruz somehow manages to beat Hitlery, we'll be in a good place.
Still think Trump is best for America.
Trump is not a politician and is reacting to a perceived threat. I’m more angry with his advisor(s) than I am with Trump.
Cruz has money. Cruz is controlled... to some extent.
Cruz was my #1 before Trump announced.
I would love to see a Trump/Cruz ticket.
The only thing I care less about right now is Rush Limbaugh.
Hey guys perhaps we’d all be better off if Rush just talked about Apple products. Seems he’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Let’s all relax and let the two guys sorted out tomorrow night in Las Vegas.
Seriously?? Because Cruz intimated in a closed door meeting that he didnt want Trump’s finger on the button (which was a nice way of him saying Trump is crazy), and Trump responds by saying Cruz acted like a maniac, your’re rethinking your support for Trump? The better question is why would you be thinking of not supporting Trump and supporting Cruz over this? Unbelievable..
Trump always jabs at uncomfortable truths.
Should be interesting.
Trump has done a lot of good in this campaign, but he is human, folks. He made a big mistake in criticizing Justice Scalia in a ham handed attempt to ingratiate the Black ministers who recently met with him. He attributed statements that were not originated by the justice, to him. Justice Scalia is likely the most important conservative on the Supreme Court, and any candidate has to tread carefully when discussing sitting justices. It was an unforced error by Trump.
With respect to the criticism of Ted Cruz, that’s politics. I am a Cruz supporter and I know Ted is a strong guy and handled it well, with humor. I have great admiration for the good that Donald Trump has done in this campaign in destroying PC and making the media look like the lefties they are. But it will take a lot to take Ted Cruz down and Trump was not effective in this effort.
Just last week Rush said he also likes Rubio
Yes he does. In just a few words that leave a lasting memory.
I would think that most likely.
Further, I don't think the body politic had yet figured out WHAT Rush got wrong, but they know he missed the mark.
Personally, I think Rush was thrown by the similarity of Trump's remarks regarding Cruz to the Democrat's remarks.
The part Rush misses is those remarks were for totally different reasons. Leftists call Cruz a maniac for pissing them off. Trump would be saying it because Cruz pissed them all off without a plan to actually gain something out of it.
