Instead of trying to grind out a victory by criss-crossing Iowa or New Hampshire the way that underfunded candidates like Rick Santorum managed to do in 2012, the Rubio campaign has explicitly said that itâs relying upon the media to carry the candidateâs message. That may seem ludicrous for a Republican to say, however, that actually appears to be the case as National Review reported as long ago as April.
Besides trying to get the senator booked on as many shows as possible (a desire he shares in common with Donald Trump and any other breathing politician), Rubioâs team appears to think that a $3 million television advertising buy in New Hampshire will be the ticket to victory, never mind that the political action committee supporting Jeb Bush just spent $18.5 million in the state and went from double digits to around 7 percent.
According to multiple reports, the Rubio campaign appears to believe that the state-by-state primaries and caucuses are merely proxies for national poll ratings. Itâs a theory thatâs completely inconsistent with the facts. There is something this theory is consistent with, however, and that is the [failed] campaign strategy of Rudy Giuliani in 2008.

Joe Scarborough got into this this morning saying that Rubio isn’t in Washington or Iowa or New Hampshire. He then went on to say that he’s watching football games on the weekend instead of campaigning. I thought it was an interesting take. I haven’t been paying much attention to him.
Who knows. McCain and Romney sure didn’t want to win. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that they voted for Obammie.
The talking heads say he is biding his time because he doesn’t want to peak too early. Supposedly he thinks that Cruz is peaking too early.
Rubio must be relying on the GOPe. He must believe they’ve got enough media influence to help him with the nomination.
It could also be that he’s trying to set himself up for 2016. It would give stories of him mismanaging money time to fade. I’ve also read inappropriate relationships may come out but I am not sure of that.
He has a reputation for being lazy in the Senate and apparently it is translating to the campaign.
Trump and Cruz are working their arses off.
Rubio better be careful lest he become known as the lazy candidate. ..
All libtard rino/gopers want to win, they feel entitled to rule just like their libtard counterparts.
1) Pinnochio to cheap labor billionaires
2) Brokered convention justification fodder
`Scarface` can`t win, his only worth is as a spoiler.
Rubio finished his political career when he schemed with Schumer against the citizens and the rule of law.
There aren’t enough stupid people willing to give this backstabber more knives, thank goodness.
If someone does not know how to run and does not at least try to hire the best campaign staff, that person would end up being an incompetent president at the mercy of handlers who do know how to run things their way.
At this time in history we do not need lazy people at the helm.
“Who knows. McCain and Romney sure didn’t want to win. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that they voted for Obammie.”
That wouldn’t surprise me. My bet is that a whole raft of Ruling Class hacks who posture as “conservatives” did the same.
I agree.
Boy that’s correct, Trump is for sure, criss crossing the country and doing two stump stops per day on many days. Cruz is busy in the senate and hitting the donors in NYC, and elsewhere, and whatever stumps he does. I don’t follow him.
But, Rubio is starting to look not cool and talented, but lame and talented. You know what I mean? Who watches football on weekends when the country hangs in the balance.
If he is too lazy to show up and work in the senate and if he is too broke to stump stop, then withdraw and go be a teller somewhere.
This is terrible in appearance. He looks like Hillary! You never see her, but one or two times and then she goes dark also.
He want charter plane, nice food, mistress and 6 pack of water.
Senior Amnesty still thinks he can fool people into thinking the scarlet “A” on his forehead is a birth mark which it is not. It’s a viable sign of his support for amnesty.
Thank you for your assessment, dear Dr. Sivana. It is not getting the coverage Trump gives, but it is probably because I don’t follow him. Thanks for your reply. :) Rita
Well, Hillary is just waiting for the coronation.
Rubio has no such expectation unless he thinks the establishment is going to pave the way for him, which they would love to do. He’s proven to be pretty pliable, after all.
It’s a shame. In 2012 I was convinced Rubio was the future of the party. He was supposed to be a Tea Party Conservative.
Erik Ericson said that stories like this would become more frequent.
