Ted Cruz Surge Built on Policy, Old Fashioned Campaigning
Breitbart ^ | 12/13/15 | Mike Flynn

Posted on 12/13/2015 4:04:17 PM PST by VinL

The latest Des Moines Register poll shows Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz surging to a 10 point lead over his nearest rival, Donald Trump, among caucus goers in Iowa.

Cruz's October surge is the largest jump measured over 5 Presidential campaigns. Cruz currently has the highest favorability rating of any Republican candidate for President.

Cruz has 31 percent support, followed by Donald Trump with 21 percent. Since October, Cruz has gained 21 points while Trump has gained just 2 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson is in 3rd place with 13 percent, down 15 points since October. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)79%is 4th with 10 percent support, essentially unchanged since the last poll.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is 5th with just 6 percent support. His Super PAC, Right to Rise, has been the biggest buyer of TV ads in the state, spending millions of dollars to support Bush’s campaign. In spite of the massive spending, Bush gained just 1 point of support since October. Worse, 41 percent of likely caucus goers say they would never support Bush.

"Based on this data, it's hard to keep Bush in the picture," said Ann Selzer, who conducted the poll for the Des Moines Register. It is important to note that Selzer is widely considered the guru of polling in Iowa. Her polling for Iowa races, both in the caucuses and in off year elections, has proven to be the most accurate for what can be a difficult landscape to measure.

Based on Selzer's track record, this poll likely provides the most accurate snapshot of the political terrain in Iowa today.

Cruz's dramatic surge in Iowa may surprise most political reporters, whose time is consumed with following Donald Trump. It will likely also be a shock to most members of the Republican establishment,..

If Cruz goes all the way, it will be because he's doing the hard, foundational work.

"Eli Lake, a highly respected foreign affairs reporter for Bloomberg, tweeted out "Don't agree w/ everything @tedcruz is saying, but this is a serious foreign policy speech that shows a mastery of the issues"

Well no.

It’s built on staying out of the campaign while letting the other candidates attack and get attacked. Eventually the others succumbed to the fights and media attacks, leaving only Trump and Cruz as the new “not Trump” that the old Carson people have gravitated towards.

It isn’t because of any speech or policy Cruz has put forward or else this would have happened back in October.

Everyone on this board knows the establishment/media playbook. Everyone here knows they’ve coordinated every news channel, every print story, every establishment politician, every talking head to destroy Trump and have failed. So conservatives finally have someone with enough strength, resources, and smarts to survive the massive effort by the left.

Yet for many purists, there’s a better way, Cruz. He’s a REAL conservative, he has fought the GOP, yada yada. I refuse to believe that these people don’t see the path they’re taking us down. Cruz gets enough support to weaken Trump, they both go down to Christie or Rubio.

I haven’t made this stuff up, look at history. Look at 2012 when they effortlessly knocked down one candidate after the other until they got their guy. Remember Mississippi where they openly stole the nomination from Chris McDaniel. when they elected a Democrat in DE instead of Christine O’Donnell.

This isn’t a question of could we do better. It’s a question of whether or not we’re willing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. IMHO

Back in August I caught this Bill Still report of Heidi Cruz and from what I got out of it she is for total open borders from Mexico to Canada. So I have to wonder exactly where Ted Cruz is on this and a lot of other things.

You can be the darling of the Conservative and Tea Party as long as you say what they want to hear. But when I look at Cruz I just don’t see a guy that has really done much and to vote for another Lawyer and a Professional Politician is not what I am looking for.

Take a look at this on Heidi Cruz and decide for yourself:

Surge?! Des Moines Register is not neutral and this is all so convenient as part of what seems to be an effort to shove Cruz into the limelight before next Tuesday’s debate, just as they did previously with other candidates. Okay, so his turn to step up and flame out. But 20% surge?! Not likely and definitely not supported by any other polls around. Those supporting him, be happy, it won’t last.

Okay, let me ask this, can "The Conservative's Choice", win the amongst Americans in general and among Republicans specifically? If you think so, where is the evidence since he is down in single digits in most polls for the past 5-6 months. No movement. Will he suddenly, beyond media creation like this weekend, suddenly be "The One"?

Cruz is a fringe candidate, drawing upon a fringe audience. He's best as a martyr but has nothing else. A Canadian-born Cuban. Hey, at least, unlike Obama, no one is questioning where he was born.

According to the previous article, his campaign says just the opposite.

If conservatives supported him and not the Paris Hilton of politics, absolutely.

And, Big Data on everyone.

Facebook data.

Your discount grocery store card data. The data on your phone if you opt in and run his app.

There is enormous amounts of data available for purchase in the world. In the aggregate it can tell you a lot of things about a lot of people.

And, it can narrow down to individuals and households when properly parsed.

But they don't, and that's all that counts.

“enough smarts and resources to beat the left” paraphrasing.

Cruz has smarts to spare, and some formidable resources to boot that will only continue to grow perhaps exponentially the more folks that get behind him.

We need to get behind ONE candidate.

Ask Lloyd Blankfein. Goldman defines globalism.

Cruz has smarts to spare, and some formidable resources to boot that will only continue to grow perhaps exponentially the more folks that get behind him.

Only with Cruz, his resources are tied to donors, thus his amnesty problem. He will never say he will deport because he doesn't intend to. Most big-money donors are pro-amnesty.

We need to get behind ONE candidate.

I agree 100%. I'm behind the only guy to defeat the media and establishment ever, Trump. No one else has ever been able to do this and no one else will be able to do this, odds are overwhelming.
