Coalescing around a single conservative candidate has been the talk for a while. It sounds as if Cruz put together a strategy to gain that support. Smart politics.
I am not convinced all the happy talk coming out of Iowa is true.
We will see.
In addition, what does that do for the other states?
In the past it hasn’t meant much in the way of momentum.
We shall see....what we shall see,....
It’s good news definitely for the Cruz campaign, however, will it translate to enough momentum to close the 13 point gap in the latest Iowa poll, or the 20+ gap in the NH and SC polls. Especially in light of recent articles that question Trump’s support possibly being higher than what’s reported. Time will tell.
Both Santorum and Huckabee didn’t have organization on the ground in states that far past Iowa. They tried to build as they went, but in many places, all of the good ground organizers had already been snatched up by other candidates.
Cruz has been working the ground for months. While everyone was in Iowa during August and September, he was touring the Southern States in a bus. When Perry and Walker had offices with paid staffers in Des Moines, Cruz had very little money going to organizers there. Instead, he shepherded his money and only recently set up a central office for Iowa. But he has been coordinating with precinct level captains since last spring.
He has studied the race and had a plan going in. Yes, Trump is a phenomena, and has upset a lot of plans of every other candidate, but Cruz has stuck with his plan and it is starting to pay off at the right time. We’ll see on Caucus day if it is good enough to put him in the top two going into South Carolina and the March 1st contests.
If so, then he has a chance at the nomination.
Well, not to be overly argumentative, but I don’t see the GOPe declaring Cruz will not be the nominee no matter what.
I can see them not wanting Cruz, but what’s going on with Trump is just visceral.
I have also said that if Trump were knocked out, Ted would be the one to get all the flack he had been.
And at that time, I think you’re comment would certainly apply to the Cruz end of it.
I will vote Cruz. I will vote Trump. If one of their names is not at the top of the ballot, I will just stay home. Because at that point, it is all over.
I’ll leave that to you folks.
I’m not going to expand on it beyond this.
We’ll see how it goes.
Funny, the new CNN poll has Trump ahead in Iowa.
I am apologizing...up front...But I’m not sure I understand much of your post.
I don’t think the GOPe hates Ted. I don’t think they like his Conservatism.
As for Trump, they do hate the man. It’s pouring out of their eyes, their ears, their skin...
If Trump were to leave the race for any reason, then Ted would become public enemy number one and they would up the anti with regard to him.
Okay so Ben came and went, and then Carly...so i guess Cruz is the new GOP Trump-Killer. Well good luck to Cruz, but he will fade away like the rest.
The only concern I have is if Ted could withstand the onslaught the way Trump has been able to do this long.
That was something that caused me to become a more ardent supporter of Trump.
I don’t think anyone could take on what Trump has, but Trump.
Let’s look back to recent primary cycles.
We went through so many folks. We would just fall in behind someone and they were gone. We’d pick antoher, gone. We’d pick another, gone.
Trump has proven that he can kick the media’s ass.
That’s important. I think he’s the one guy that can do it.
Fear is existential. Hate can easily change. Fear will likely win.
“Funny, the new CNN poll has Trump ahead in Iowa.”
The ONLY poll that has Cruz ahead ANYWHERE at any time is this week old Monmouth poll that various media keep harping on ad nauseam.
.
For exactly his Conservatism...
The Media knows no shame...
The Media is the left....and know one should ever question that again.
