Donald Trump just trumped all the Republican candidates for President.
The day after the mom jeans wearing squat to pee President came out to assure us that tolerance, gun control, and climate change would save us from ISIS, Donald Trump demanded we bar any muslims from entering this country and bar any American citizen who is muslim from re-entering the United States.
Set aside the merits of what amounts to at least, in part, an unconstitutional position.
This is actually brilliant politics for the here and now. Immediately, every other Republican candidate except Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% rushed out to attack Donald Trump. He’s unhinged, hateful, etc. And the responses all amounted to “we must let muslims enter our country,” which sounds a whole lot like “we must allow all Mexicans in our country,” which everyone knows is blatantly untrue on both counts.
We do not have to do it, but the other candidates, unable to nuance their spittle, went all in with “no religious tests” and “yes we must do this because it is who we are.”
So, to put it another way, the day after the President failed to reassure a scared public following the second worst terrorist attack since 9/11 on domestic soil, Donald Trump not only got himself to the right of all the other candidates, but also got every single one of them save for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% to align themselves with Barack Obama.
Hate Donald Trump all you want, be offended by his proposal all you want, but it is really brilliant politics for Trump right now in the Republican primary and the reactions from the other candidates prove it. All the people attacking Trump on his immigration proposals now attacking him on this have done themselves no favors within the primary process.
Have none of these people read Art of the Deal? This is an opening, bombastic salvo to set the terms of negotiations and the other candidates except Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% just decided to negotiation in Barack Obama’s position. And it comes at a time some polls are suggesting Trump is starting to fade in places like Iowa.
Two muslim cowards who killed Amercians before the Christmas holiday leaving a life time of sorrow for many while thier enablers protectors and supporters cry foul. The tephlon don does it again. Im at the point now that I would vote for him twice, uh what do I think Im a democrat? he he he he he he...............
Please don’t invoke mushrooms when insulting people, it gives them a bad aura. :)
Erik was shocked by the push back he got after attacking Trump
He Lost his Rush substitute position and became frightened.
He’s trying to walk it back
Mom jeans are a brand of jeans, I think.
Erickson has a good point. Trump has “trumped”, “upstaged”, and “eclipsed” all other candidates by making a broad generalization that will get everyone sifted to either helpful or harmful to the nation. Ann Coulter supports the nation and said, “Go, Trump. Go.” Michael Medved showed cowardice and said, “What a stupid thing for Trump to say.”
The term “mom jeans” refers to Obama’s first pitch as Yankee Stadium when he looked like a sissy and threw a baseball like a wimp.
How about we reciprocate...islam get out of OUR countries.
I stand corrected. Just looked it up. It’s a term that refers to a style of jean that was popular in the late 80’s, early 90’s, that were popular with mothers. They were not designed to show off a woman’s figure, and were not particularly flattering.
I had checked that and didn’t find it as a brand-—and it seems that “mom” is usually written as a common noun.

Yes, you’re right. See my post #28.
Oops-—I just sent you what I found.
Thanks for your help.

We seem to be bumping into eachother.
:-)

I thought he said he would bar those who fought for ISIS and then sought to return...

You are correct, if I’ve read the US Immigration and Nationality Act correctly...

I thought Red State hated Trump.
It isn’t really applicable in 2015, but a decade or so ago, jeans for young people had been very low in the waistline. It was supposed to be hip and cool (when really it just showed everyone’s butt canyons). People’s “moms” still wore high waisted jeans from thirty years ago, so Obama was mocked for his high waisted, old style jeans early in his administration.
Now higher waisted jeans arethankfully coming back. I don’t really want to see everyone’s underwear and butt any more when they bend. Even plumbers wear overalls now.
Who were the 35 House members who want to let them in?
Exactly! This is JIHAD, declared by ISIS. During WWII did we open our borders to Japanese and Germans??? Trump said only that a ban would be TEMPORARY! Even France has closed its’ borders for the time being.
Thanks-—I just never quite understood the descriptive.
