It’s time for Republicans to renounce Donald Trump’s candidacy
The Washington Post ^ | December 8, 2015 | The Editorial Board

Posted on 12/08/2015 6:00:20 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

MOST CANDIDATES for the Republican presidential nomination, with an understanding of constitutional, democratic and social norms that Donald J. Trump utterly lacks, have denounced his outrageous call for a “total and complete shutdown” on Muslims entering the United States.

It is heartening that Mr. Trump’s opponents are finally condemning him in terms they would generally reserve for Democrats, but it also raises a critical question: If the GOP front-runner’s pronouncements are as lunatic and offensive as his rivals say — and they are — isn’t it incumbent on them to make clear they would oppose him if he were the party’s nominee?

The prospect of an open Republican split may send tremors down the spines of party strategists. They naturally fear an internecine war, a fractured party and maybe an independent Trump candidacy. But even those outcomes would cause less damage to their party and to the nation than uniting behind a candidate whose policies and rhetoric are morally, legally and pragmatically unconscionable — as they have now recognized....

Give me a break. This coming from the people who are rolling over backwards to support one half of the most corrupt political couple to walk the planet for president When the WaPo renounces the Clintons and the Democratic Party then maybe I’ll pay some attention to that kitty litter liner of a paper. Fat chance!

I keep waiting for them to start kissing up to me. They say they need my vote.... instead they make me madder every day. I am going to get some serious revenge next year on Election Day.

It’s time for the Washington Post Editorial Board to admit its intent to overthrow the Constitution for the United States of America.

I remember similar hysterics when Reagan’s presidential prospects were rising.

Why would they care so much if republicans were self destructing and guaranteeing a Hillary win?

It is interesting now that they are calling on the other republicans to denounce Trump and then not support him if he is the nominee.

Didn't every one of these nitwits, by a show of hands, say they would support the eventual Republican nominee? Or was that only in effect if Trump wasn't the nominee?

'It’s time for Republicans to renounce Donald Trump’s candidacy'

What? You mean what the GOP establishment has been doing for the last six months?

Too late, WaPo.

Jeb Bush's biggest "enemy" is a fellow republican.

He and his GOP cohorts are spending millions trying to get rid of Trump, rather than fighting Obama or Hillary.

Here's a thought for the GOP contenders:

Make a case for YOURSELF.

Ask yourself just WHY Trump "resonates" across the political spectrum.

Hint: It isn't "racism".

Until you repukes understand that, you'll be shining my shoes.

And .. they’re even more terrified now that they’re beginning to see a more diversified group of people who are showing up at Trump functions.

Hmmmm ..?? It’s not just white people.

I have a question for you’all...
If Trump gets the votes to be the republican candidate, can the states (each state, any state) refuse to cast their votes for Trump? Who actually decides who the electoral votes go to? Do the people who vote? or a committee based on the votes?
I just never thought about it before.. and now wonder if the GOP can refuse/deny what/who the people would cast votes for.
