'Nicholas Smith, the actor who played store manager Mr Rumbold in the BBC sitcom Are You Being Served?, has died aged 81.
He had been the last surviving member of the original cast.
"It is with great sadness we can confirm that our client passed away yesterday," his agents at Michelle Braidman Associates said.
"He was a lovely man and a terrific actor. He will be much missed by all who knew him."'

According to the article, they’re all gone now. That’s sad. Funny show.
"Good Heavens!"
What a shame. My wife and I loved that show.
glass of water for mr rumbold!
Mr. Rumbold was one of my favorite characters on that show.
What a funny show. RIP Jug Ears.
Yep, a classic. Thankfully still repeated on BBC2 as an afternoon ‘filler’. As is the immortal Dad’s Army.
Only Mike Berry remains of the main cast, and he didn’t join until 1979.
Wow, I can’t believe all the rest are gone now. That show was pretty hilarious?
“Miss Slocumbe, are you free?”
Sad passing of a great comedy team...
Great show, one of the best BBC comedies ever.
The real sad tragedy was Wendy Richard (Miss Brahms), as she was only in her mid to late sixties when she lost her battle with cancer. Frank Thornton (Captain Peacock) lived to about 93. Still, one of my favourite British shows though.
Well, I DIDN’T like the show. It was just another homo-propagandizing tool to depict homosexuals as gay (in the proper meaning of the word,) harmless, funny and competents in a sea of incompetents.
I can’t believe that they are all gone. May they all rest in peace.
Used to play on PBS. I guess it’s now too un-pc to be shown.
"After I go home and feed my pussy"
Loved that show.
Mrs. Slocumbe: “There was a terrible noise outside my flat last evening, and my pussy was quite agitated...”
I never saw it. I love British comedies!
And he could play the Piano well.
