The data collection comes in real handy if you have political enemies that you want to target and connect to others.

Folks like tea party groups and their members.

Its a good cover to ‘say’ the collection is for everyone while focusing in unsuspectedly, that way the public can’t see the forest for the trees.

I am 100% for phone metadata or more be collected on anyone who calls or takes a call from truly suspicious people or from parts of the world that harbors terrorists.

The only positive thing about mass phone data spying is that one reason East German Stasi was ineffective was they spied on almost everyone. They had mountains of info, but rarely found the needle in the haystack.
