Its a good cover to ‘say’ the collection is for everyone while focusing in unsuspectedly, that way the public can’t see the forest for the trees.

I am 100% for phone metadata or more be collected on anyone who calls or takes a call from truly suspicious people or from parts of the world that harbors terrorists.

The only positive thing about mass phone data spying is that one reason East German Stasi was ineffective was they spied on almost everyone. They had mountains of info, but rarely found the needle in the haystack.

Government should not be trusted in the best of times.

After all, tax data collected on traditional marriage supporters in California inexplicably found its way into the hands of gay marriage supporting groups.
