I wanted to post an 'udpate' of sorts on the election for 167 seats in Venezuela's National Assembly today.
Three oppositions leaders in the country say the opposition, called MUD, has defeated the Chavista Maduro government's PSUV.
Pro-opposition blogger Daniel Duquenal has posted a picture with a bottle and glass of the bubbly and says there's even a rumor the opposition has won a 2/3 majority.
But can the regime accept such a result or even publish it if its true?
Some sort of results are likely if past patterns hold up within the next 3 or 4 hours or ??????
Let's see how long before NPR, Obama, and the unfortunately cancer-free Jimmy Carter condemn the vote. Thanks Nextrush.
The results and what may result from them could be very serious for the people of Venezuela.
My bet is Maduro won’t take this quietly.
My bet is Maduro wonât take this quietly.
Or they just take the money and run..........
Why would you write something so horrible about Carter?
We want him and Obama to live forever as a reminder to all that weak, inexperienced liberal Presidents bring about disastrous results.
I just don’t see how a guy like him could do that unless Obama is going to say to Havana: “Look what I did for you, you better make Maduro (their puppet) back off”.
Havana pulls Maduro’s strings and has a lot of ‘advisors’ on the ground.
Bingo.
Lock up the opposition members in concentration camps and the Maduro party handily wins.
The only reason Carter’s cancer would be in remission is because not even Satan can stand him.
LOL! True.
Since the Marxist thugs are big favorites of Obama and Pelosi, yeah. Better than trying to learn to accept single party state Marxist rule.
:’)
Some will recall their was a briefly successful revolution against Chavez in the first few months of Bush 2’s first term. IIRC it was reported here, then, that the opposition asked Bush’s State department for permission to permanently dispose of Chavez, which was richly deserved and historically sound policy. Bush refused to support that and Chavez’s supporters came to his rescue. If the opposition actually can briefly obtain control (winning 2/3 of the vote â tallying 2/3 of the vote) I hope they remember this. Obama would certainly give the same answer as Bush, if asked, but if the opposition is smart they’ll realize how toothless he is at defending any of his red lines. Better yet, don’t ask him, just do what’s needed.
Thats a job for the history books and YouTube...
More likely they have already taken all of the money. Now the builders will build up the economy and the wealth of the nation again. In another decade or two progressives will arise to plunder the nation anew.
“Bush refused to support that and Chavezâs supporters came to his rescue. “
Dammit! You just reminded me why I hate the Boosh family so much! Feckless bastards all!
“It’s not who votes, it’s who counts the votes.” - Josef Stalin
This is kind of like what happened when the GOP won the Senate.
Nothing will change.
The opposition has no guns so they can take their “victory” and stick where the sun don’t shine.
I think people will have to die in the end to remove Maduro and his thugs from power.
I would hope not, but I honestly think it will take acts leading to people dying to restore a greater degree of freedom in Venezuela.
