WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will pledge to use "every single aspect of American power" to destroy Islamic State during a rare Oval Office address on Sunday in an effort to reassure Americans his administration is handling the threat of terrorism forcefully.
The president will speak to Americans shortly after 8:00 p.m. EST to discuss how the government has worked to keep the country safe since the Paris attacks and, going back further, since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington.
Obama has come under consistent pressure from Republicans to step up his response to Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria, and the shooting in San Bernardino, California last week that killed 14 people has raised fears among Americans about the threat of more attacks at home.
Obama will give an update on the status of the investigation into that shooting during his remarks. He will also express confidence that the United States will prevail over terrorist threats, the administration official said.
"The president will ... discuss the broader threat of terrorism, including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how we will defeat it," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement announcing the address.

Far be it for me to take up for Obama, but if you’ll recall, Iraq was griping and wanting us out of there while Bush was still in office. I believe our exit was negotiated before Obama entered office, but I’ll be the first to say my memory isn’t very good.
But I do remember Iraq wanted us out. Because I remember being so angry at how ungrateful they were.
But first I’d like to invite them all to the hut for a beer summit. But beware, if you don’t agree to my terms I will pinky slap each one of them.
He might LIE and pledge to use the power of the military but he never will... it is all talk no action and American citizens die...
Obama is only mad because he can’t find a way for the muslim terrorists to target conservatives only.
Whatever he says/doesn't say/does/does't do will be the result of political calculations.
This muslim most dangerous enemy of America will only continue to wage jihad on America.
Here’s exactly what he’s going to do:
1. Accelerate his jihad domestically - for example, increasing “outreach” to known muslim terror fronts and “fasttrack” muslim terror “refugees.”
2. Accelerate his jihad overseas - for example, increasing CIA & SF numbers in Syria. Likely too is some kind of agreement or enhanced cooperation with muslim terror state Turkey and his best jihad bud, erdogan.
3. Threaten regular Americans against “islamophobia.”
4. Continue the lie about ‘fighting ISIS’ which is run by the CIA. Vlad is
100% correct about this.
5. Accelerate the verbal war on Assad.
I think there will be another domestic terror attack in 5-10 days which will answer his speech tonight.

Exactly. This morning there is news US aircraft hit Syrian Government troops in an ISIS controlled area. He is providing CAS for ISIS, not even trying to hide it any more.
