MIAMI, Fla. â Believing it was part of an art installation, patrons at an art show were slow to react when a woman was stabbed with a utility knife.
A fight between two women escalated, leading to one woman stabbing the other in the neck and arms Friday at the at the Art Basel Miami Beach, according to police. The women apparently had gotten into a scuffle near an exhibit by the artist Naomi Fisher.
A witness told Fisher that he thought it was part of an exhibit:

I thought of Welcome To The Jungle too when I read that.
Then they reassembled it on the 2nd floor of the art school and put every single piece of trash and tools back in exactly where it was originally.
It was a tremendous amount of work and for absolutely nothing!!!
Worthless!!

I certainly hope they never read this post.
It may “trigger” feelings of inadequacy and they will have to create a “safe space”. (Maybe a red garage?)
.
LOL! I suspect everyone in the whole school were libs, except me of course! They won’t read this. ; )
“An art gallery cleaning lady accidentally threw away expensive modern art because she confused it with trash. According to the BBC, on Wednesday a security guard at an Italian art gallery noticed that items from Sala Murat’s display were missing. The works were made of newspaper and cardboard, and pieces of cookies that were spread across the floor.
“Apparently an unnamed cleaner, from the firm Chiarissima, thought it was left over garbage and tossed it. The works are estimated to be worth $15,000.
“The city marketing commissioner told the BBC, “It’s clear the cleaning person did not realize she had thrown away two works and their value. But this is all about the artists who have been able to better interpret the meaning of contemporary art, which is to interact with the environment. In any case, the insurance will cover the damages caused.”
“This isn’t the first time that art has been confused with trash; back in 2001 an installation consisting of beer bottles, coffee cups, and overflowing ashtrays was thrown out by a cleaning crew.”

I know not to mess with the custodial staff on my job, but I had no idea they were such harsh art critics!
Because “art” has become so crude as to be able to be mistaken for all sorts of sick crap...
I’m halfway through Tom Wolfe’s latest, Back to Blood, set in Miami.
Art Basel Miami Beach is featured prominently in the novel’s plot and various characters connected to it.
I will have to get Wolfâs new book as I enjoyed reading Bonfire Of The Vanities and A Man In Full.
I think I saw those "paintings" with my best friend Julie at the National Gallery of Art in DC some years ago - it was titled "Black Canvas" IIRC. As we stood there looking at them and trying to figure out how this was "art", Julie said, "If it looks like something my 6 year old would paint, I don't really consider that art".
I looked it up and the "artist" is Mark Rothko.
Another piece we saw that day was a canvas that had all sorts of items glued to it, most looking like junk, pieces of rusted metal and trash and coming out of the center of it was a long electrical cord and at the end of the cord and lying on the floor, was a blue light bulb which was lit.
I said to Julie, "So what happens when the light bulb burns out? Is the art over then or does it become a brand new piece of art?" She laughed but then a security guard, an older black gentleman quietly walked over to us, looked around to make sure no one but us heard him, he then said; "Ain't that some crap? You can't believe how much money they think some of this garbage worth and how seriously they take it." LOL!
That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the National Gallery; they have a lot of great classical and impressionist paintings and some wonderful sculptures and I won't even say I dislike all modern art, but yes, a lot of it now days is stupid and ugly and pointless.
According to the arrest report, Zhao admitted to stabbing the woman in order to "clean" her.
