Humans make choices. It should not be illegal to make choices.

The problem with the Jim Crow laws that the Democrats put in place was that they did not allow people to make choices — you HAD to do this, and you COULDN’T do that. And that’s wrong. Government should not be limiting the choices that people can make, as long as the people are not engaged in fraud or coercion.

But people should be allowed to make choices. And picking up some potential fares may not be something that a cabbie wants to do.

Oh brother. It is their job to pick people up. I wish I had the choice of what I wanted to do at work. Nope I have to do what I am paid to do. Cabbies are not special and should have to pick up who they see needs a cab cuz it is their JOB.

The very fact that government had to enact Jim Crow laws points out that the choices that most people, white and black, made were not segregationist. You do not pass laws to prevent people from doing things they're not doing.

In some cases, the choice might be based economic considerations since blacks have a reputation of being poor tippers.
