You can’t recreate old wood.
There is a house not too far from me that the owners wanted it to look like it had been there for 150 years.
Old wood was used.
I have a bunch of old, reclaimed fir in my house. It’s great looking and more structurally sound than new wood. I purchased it from a local company that specializes in this type of wood. My wood does NOT look old, it’s S4S.
The man I bought the wood from did the frame, siding and porch for the above mentioned house.
When it was finished - just the exterior mind you, no electrical or interior trim - it looked like an old 1,500 sq. foot house with a porch.
The cost of just that was $1.8 million.
