Sylvester Turner, in his recent mayoral debate on local TV, declared that Houston is not a sanctuary city. So guess we won’t be seeing too many Pemex stations there. LOL.
Seems to me like it would be a good place to check for illegals and ship them back to Mexico.
Are you sure about that? It was my understanding that Valero was 100% US oil, along w/ Marathon.
Per wikipedia the Venezuelan oil company has an agreement with San Antonio based Valero “for branding purposes”.
IOW, hiding behind a name change. In my home town there was a Citgo. One day, all of a sudden it became a Valero station. I asked the clerk if they got bought out. The answer: “no, just a new name”.

Will they couple it with an Oxxo convenience store, for that old hometown feeling?
From Wiki...... (no mention of Citgo)
Valero Energy Corporation is a Fortune 500 international manufacturer and a marketer of transportation fuels, other petrochemical products, and power. It is based in San Antonio, Texas, United States.[1] The company owns and operates 16 refineries throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and the Caribbean with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 3 million barrels (480,000 m3) per day, 10 ethanol plants with a combined production capacity of 1.2 billion US gallons (4,500,000 m3) per year, and a 50 megawatt wind farm. Before the 2013 spinoff of CST Brands, Valero was one of the United States’ largest retail operators with approximately 6,800 retail and branded wholesale outlets in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and the Caribbean under the Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar, Beacon, and Texaco brands
From Wiki...... (no mention of the largest refiner in the country Valero)
Citgo Petroleum Corporation (or Citgo) is an American refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of Venezuela. The company has its headquarters in the Energy Corridor area of Houston, Texas.
Valero is a Texas company and not associated with Citgo or PDSVA.

Is this part of the plan of the North American Union?
Citgo, which is all over this part of the country, is owned by the Communist Government of Venezuela.
No one makes money on gasoline. It is the convenience store attached to it where the margin comes in. Have a good niche product and you are set. Some of the Valero convenience stores in South Texas have taco shops that are actually pretty good.
It may or may not be true about the citgo/valero connection. Further internet research (at least for me) has muddied the waters further. Some are saying yes, some are saying no. Debbie Schlussels site has a post indicating a indirect connection. Others deny any connection. Anecdotally, I do recall that virtually overnight all the citgos disappeared and Valeros popped up in their place.
FWIW

Do they have “service attendants” on each pump trying to make you pay more per litter or gallon? does the diesel solidify in certain seasons?
LOL! Beat me to it! I saw the same thing in Baja.
Especially if you head down 59 from Houston a bit.
