If the far right scores huge gains, are they still the far right?
Needless, question I know, since these descriptions are always from the vantage point of the “journalist”.
The FN it appears to me is more liberal than our parties here, but very strong on French Nationalism and against the open borders that have flooded France with useless and criminal immigrants. If Marine LePen becomes President, watch for fireworks.
RE “...the far right ...”
In other words, normal French citizens, as opposed to the left-wing lunatic socialist psychotics.
Has anyone ever heard the media use the term “far-left?” I haven’t. There would have to be one if there’s a far-right.
"Far right" is liberal Newspeak used to slander any white person who loves his country and his culture. "Far right" has come to mean "Europeans who want their country back."
I suppose if you had the never to throw out derelicts who were squatting in your house, trashing your property, and eating your food, you'd be "far right" too.
I think your question is a prescient one. “Far right” is moderate in historical terms, while what passes for “moderate” today is in fact quite radical through historical lenses.
