Not too weird. Law enforcement are getting pretty efficient at throwing a net around a crime scene like this. There was probably nowhere for them to go. We saw this with the Boston bombings a couple years back. After the shootout with the suspects that killed one of them, the other guy was caught hiding under a tarp in a boat only a couple miles away - nearly 18 hours later.

There was probably nowhere for them to go. They had a straight shot to two major freeways , I-215 and I-10. Google map it by looking up Orange Show road west.
