There was probably nowhere for them to go. They had a straight shot to two major freeways , I-215 and I-10. Google map it by looking up Orange Show road west.

If newly arrive Muzzies, they might have just not known the area well. They should have taken jobs as taxi drivers for a few weeks.

Sure, there are highways but they were probably already heavily manned by law enforcement.
