A large majority of the German public fears a terror backlash due to Germany supporting France in its military campaign against ISIS.

According to the survey by YouGov, 71 percent of Germans believe the threat is high and only 18 percent think there is no increased threat caused by Germany's planned commitment of its armed forces to Syria. ...

“play some proper Germanic martial tunes.”

Yep,and lots of Wagner.

I really hate to admit it but I always loved the German martial music.

We all have secrets. :-)

So right now they are at an “acceptable” level of internal terrorism. Helping crush ISIS and wipe it off the face of the earth is going to raise their terrorism to too-high levels. They’ rather live with what they have not.

‘What the hell is the matter with these people?’

For seventy years, just about everyone on Planet Earth has been telling them they’re too aggressive; I’d guess they’ve come to believe it.

Just parentheticelly, GSG9 is one of the best fighting forces in existence.

My heritage is split among Swiss, Alsatian French and Bavarian, so I am genetically predisposed to like that music. If you’ve never seen “Wagner And Me” with Stephen Fry, check it out. It’s on YouTube, and probably on Netflix as well. So much of our history is hanging by a thread, it’s astonishing.

With the overwhelming influx of Muslim refuges, they are going to get it anyway.

Are they so shallow not to realize they will be threatened by cells, lone wolves, wolf packs etc. for the next millennial due to the importation of these problem people? Are all Germans now self hating Germans? Must the German people and culture now commit suicide to atone for past transgressions?

I’ll certainly check out “Wagner and Me”. Thanks.

I’m Irish and DETESTED most Irish music but we could always find it on the radio in the Boston area back in the 60s and 70s.

When my kids would fight in the car I would threaten them with turning the dial to Irish music if they didn’t stop.

They stopped.

There was once a Germany where the Social Democrats had this sort of dominance, but they were faced with violent movements that they could not control and so, when the country drifted to a situation where they were in the minority and the violent parties constituted a majority, and the only thing that the violent parties could agree on was that the government had to be changed, changed it was. By force, and not for the better. The Social Democrats were the first inhabitants of the camps.

What is frustrating is that their counterparts who are now in power profess constantly that we must learn from history, leaving us to wonder if they have done so themselves. Absolutely anything can happen when a weak central government cedes power to one of the violent sides. This one is importing a violent side, pretending that it is doing otherwise. Based on history one might expect the German people to respond along several possible lines, but cowed obedience to an external conqueror is not one of them.
