NEW YORK (AP) Bono says despite the deadly attacks in Paris last month, he believes Paris will remain strong and he is hoping U2's concert there this week moves the audience.
U2 was set to perform in Paris on Nov. 14 and was in a middle of rehearsing when 130 people were killed in suicide bombings and shootings the day before in what has become the worst attack on French soil in more than a half-century.
"Well, knowing our French audience and having a sense of them by now, I would say joy as an act of defiance," he said of what concert-goers can expect when U2 performs at the AccorHotels Arena on Dec. 6-7. "That's what U2 does, that's what French people want from us and that's it."
"They took a lot of lives we're not going to get back, but they're not going to change the character of the city of Paris," he continued in an interview with The Associated Press.
Bono also praised the U.S. rock band Eagles of Death Metal, which was performing at the concert theater Bataclan in Paris where some were taken hostage and killed.

Good man. Men. Don't agree with all of their politics but they do what they believe in, walk the talk, and still have their nads intact.
Unlike most Eurowussies.
Hasn’t Paris suffered enough?
Bono is a fraud, and a hypocrite. Period.
Perhaps. But he did get 15 billion pesos from W for aids in Africa.
He and they if nothing else stand up for their beliefs by deeds not just words. Unlike most in the entertainment industry.
And their music ain’t half bad either.
He will show up with 1000 security guards.
I wouldn’t be afraid either.
Oh, and, of course, all of our hard earned US money went straight to helping AIDS patients and not into the pockets of corrupt African leaders, huh?
Exactly
Priceless!
Don't agree with them on everything they stand for but I do respect their willingness to back up their beliefs.
And they gave their last work away to millions...whereas some on our side give away our hard working money to placate The Chamber/The Banks and the illegal invaders. They hurt me more than Bono/U2 ever has.
Just saying....
:-)
