‘Oxygen for jihadists’: ISIS-smuggled oil flows through Turkey to intl markets – Iraqi MP

Terroist group Islamic State earns millions of dollars selling oil on the black market in Turkey, Iraqi MP and former national security adviser, Mowaffak al Rubaie told RT. He also revealed that wounded terrorists are being treated in Turkish hospitals.

“In the last eight months ISIS has managed to sell ... $800 million dollars worth of oil on the black market of Turkey. This is Iraqi oil and Syrian oil, carried by trucks from Iraq, from Syria through the borders to Turkey and sold ...[at] less than 50 percent of the international oil price,” Mowaffak al Rubaie said in an interview with RT.

“Now this either get consumed inside, the crude is refined on Turkish territory by the Turkish refineries, and sold in the Turkish market. Or it goes to Jihan and then in the pipelines from Jihan to the Mediterranean and sold to the international market.”

“Money and dollars generated by selling Iraqi and Syrian oil on the Turkish black market is like the oxygen supply to ISIS and it’s operation,” he added. “Once you cut the oxygen then ISIS will suffocate.”

The Iraqi MP said there is “no shadow of a doubt” that the Turkish government knows about the oil smuggling operations. “The merchants, the businessmen [are buying oil] in the black market in Turkey under the noses – under the auspices if you like – of the Turkish intelligence agency and the Turkish security apparatus,” he said.

Isn't this Iraqi MP an Iranian lackey?

And...

If what he says is true, does it matter?

There's a boatload of reporting about Turkey's support for the Jihadis in the international/Mid-East press. Even in Turkey.

Will Russia present irrefutable evidence to the UNSC?

Transport of crude oil is so difficult to spot! Tanker rail cars, semi tractor trailers with tankers, highways or roads, rail tracks, sea tankers, all so hard to pick out in the terrain.

Maybe they should ask Warren Buffett how he moves oil? It's all such a mystery! It took Obama six years to figure out how oil might come 200 miles from Canada to the US. Give the man time!/s

Russia knows it and that’s why they’ve been bombing the hell out of oil tankers. That’s also why Turkey shot down a Russian plane. I don’t think that’s going to stop Putin.

This could also be one of the reasons gas is so cheap today. Just guessing.

Obama doesn't want the Keystone Pipeline because of the possible environmental damage it could cause.

It's a good thing there are no pipelines between Canada and the US now or our environment would be in danger.

Putin's been on Turkey's Erdogan for years, with threats and now sanctions because Erdogan’s supporting Isis....and yes it does matter as Erdogan also is responsible for the influx of Refugees he uses as barter with International leaders...just as he recently did in Brussels and continue to so even now. He's who opened the flood gates after he took in all the refugees with the idea of using them to force Western nations to do more, and quicker in Syria to serve his own agenda.

Erdogan hasn't had the media attention here because as usual our media lacks the will and the desire to report the facts accurately.... but he's been a ‘major player’ in Syria from the get go.

Obama meeting with Erdogan during the G-20 Summit in Seoul, South Korea....2010

If that can be proven then Turkey will be at war with Russia, NATO and the USA.

200 bbls +/- per tanker truck, 300-350 loads a day, at a mere $20/bbl delivered will put $500,000,000 in ISIS coffers.

There shouldn't be a truck left that will hold so much as a cup of spit.

Shoot up the effing trucks, and this will stop.

Pipelines are notoriously soft targets, too. Hit a pumping station or two and that will stop as well.

No oil, no money.

Never need to target a well, which would be less cost effective anyway.

Cheap gas will help Erdogan consolidate power. I'd say that matters, especially to the Kurds.

I agree with your comments. That is 500 million - 1 billion dollars per year to finance pure evil.

Now consider that is at half the current price of oil...and someone is making the other half. Who is that, and are they a member of the Erdogan family?

Well, if there was a world glut of oil, this scenario would be plausible.

Wait, never mind.
