This would have been appropriate, “I am particularly interested in this loss of life. When I have more facts at hand I will have comments to make. At this time I do not have enough information to address the issue. I will have no further comment at this time.”
Evidently your and my comments on this thread are being construed as anti-Cruz, when in fact we both realize the facts are sketchy and not being fully disclosed in media reports. The media is trying to get Ted to say something that will come back to bite him later on. We’re not attacking Cruz, only suggesting that commenting at all until all the facts come out potentially plays into the hands of an hostile media looking for anything to crucify him with.

ALL loss of life of innocent American citizens must be condemned. I don't care if the victims are far left, lamestreams or whatever, or why the victims were killed. For any member of congress, let alone presidential candidate to come out and say they are merely “interested” in the killings. That’d be just ridiculous.
Let the enemedia stew on that!
