Also a big supermarket where over a hundred people sheltered in place for hours, and maybe shooting in that parking lot as well.


I hate the term “Shelter in place”. When did that become a phrase anyway?

Might as well use “stay still until you can be found and killed”.

The gunman was shooting into the parking lot. That is why the people were told to stay where they were.

It comes from planning collective protection for chem or bio attacks. It’s been around for a while. There is a pretty funny training video about shelter in place, in a setting where a family is living on base when a storage site leaks.
