A good number of people here like to poo-poo the French but the French can be very nasty when push comes to shove. I would have rather been in an English colony then a French colony. Of course the Spaniards were the worse.

Sounds like the history of St Kitts back in the late 1600’s. In those days William Kidd was an English hero for this work against the French.
