Is Turkey Lying: Rescued Russian Pilot Says There Was No Warning Before F-16 Opened Fire
Zero Hedge ^ | 25 Nov 2015 | Tyler

Posted on 11/25/2015 9:26:30 AM PST by amorphous

The conflicting stories over yesterday's dramatic downing of a Russian jet on the Syria-Turkish border continue to grow, and after the ongoing confusion whether the Russian pilot did or did not enter Turkish territory for a grand total of 17 seconds, moments ago Konstantin Murahtin, the co-pilot from the downed Russian jet who survived the ground fire by US-armed rebels unlike his pilot, and who was rescued by the Syrian army, said that contrary to official reports that Turkey had somehow warned the Russian jet "10 times" (in 17 seconds?) that it would fire, Turkey had in fact given no warning whatsoever before downing the Russian jet.

Russia announces they are deploying S-400 missile batteries now to Syria, range 400km. Our F-15 aircrews are not happy at Incirlik Air Base.

And they announced today that they are putting S400s in Latakia. Those have a 250 mile range. They will be about 35 miles from the Turkey border.
And that is one nasty missile. Russian tech is backwards in some ways, but they are masters at SAMs.

I just hope when they are hunting a Turk plane on its daily attacks on Syrian Kurds, that a US plane doesn’t get inadvertently hit. Though Obama would love that.

And Putin mentioned a possible no-fly zone if Assad asks him to enforce Syrian airspace. Yet, France and Russia are flying together in full cooperation. Israel and Russia are also coordinating intel and missions. Crazy times out there.

And that thing screams at altitude at mach 6.2, can maneuver at 20 G’s at up to 114,000 feet. Its final range can go into about 600,000 ft.
It is at the max limit of staying within the ABM treaty.

This isn’t some stinger or SA-2.

moozlums lie...russians lie. Who cares? What difference does it make?

Thank God that we can always count on the Americans to tell the truth.

We really don’t use anything like it except Naval missiles.
But the reason is simply because we have different needs. Likewise they never have much of a Navy because they don’t need it to protect access to trade and battlefields.

They needed to defend a large landmass with internal lines of communication. We needed to project power over sea lanes of communication.

They better have some crazy ECM capability on the NATO side and quickly.

“And MUSLIMS have?”

No. But the last time I checked we weren’t Muslim:

“A U.S. military spokesman says the U.S. heard communication between Turkish and Russian pilots before Turkey shot down the Russian plane.

“Col. Steve Warren, spokesman for the U.S. military in Baghdad, told reporters at the Pentagon Tuesday that the U.S. military was “able to hear everything that was going on.”

“Asked whether he could confirm that Turkish pilots issued 10 verbal warnings to the Russian pilots and that the Russians did not respond, Warren said, “Yes.” He did not elaborate.”

Glad I could help you out.

Both civilian and military attack aircraft have communications that allow for monitoring multiple frequencies. And there is the radar the Turkish pilots could have used to light up and warn the Russian aircraft.

The signs point to this being an ambush attack on aircraft flying a routine route, IMHO.

That is not how the military functions. A warning would have been switching on your radar. A further warning would have ben locking up the Russian fighter with your radar which is nearly the same as pulling the trigger. The Fenser's EW gear would have lit up and they would have turned away. The facts do not support the Turks and I would not trust any of Obama's military spokes people and certainly none out of the DOD briefing room. They lie about ISIS and would also cover this up.

Our F-15 aircrews are not happy at Incirlik Air Base.

Nope.

Obama sending them there may have contributed to the Turks feeling a little more froggy too.

Lot's of firepower in that region of the world. And it could all be released faster than you can read a Tom Clancy novel.

Zoomies are not going to be happy when their ALQ lights up an with an S-400 search radar detection and are going screw the pooch when in inbound is detected. Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide unless you are invisible. Only a Raptor can survive in that airspace. Even the SR-71 would be susceptible to the S-400.

You might be right. I don’t know. I just don’t trust the Russians anymore than anyone should.

I was just wondering if there are any airliners flying over that area. Don’t need another MH17.

Turkey Releases Alleged Recording Of Warning To Russian Pilot

An audio recording has emerged purporting to be the recording of Turkey warning the Russian plane.

The voice is heard saying in English: “Unknown air traffic position onto Humeymim 020, redirect to 26 miles. This is Turkish Air Force speaking - en guard. You are approaching Turkish airspace. Change your heading south immediately."

Earlier today, the surviving pilot claimed that he had not received any visual or radio warning from Turkey - contradicting Turkey's claim that they warned them numerous times.

The recording was passed on to TV news channel Al-Arabiya by a civilian pilot for Lebanese airline MEA in the sky at the time.

He claimed that this event had happened multiple times in the last week, with each warning met with silence from Russia. This clam is not verified.

This reinforces something that came to my mind:

From a civilian aircraft in the area:

"He claimed that this event had happened multiple times in the last week, with each warning met with silence from Russia."

The warning may have become so routine that they were no longer considered relevant. And 17 seconds spent crossing a finger of ridges protruding into Syria doesn't seem like it would be worth starting WWIII over by shooting down a Russian Jet.

Just my 2 cents.

Well, at this point I trust Obama even less, and he and Erdogan have been best buds for a long time. Anyone hear Obama’s insulting, demeaning remarks about Russia and Putin yesterday, during the meeting with Hollande? Interesting that Holland got the support from the Russians he was hoping to see from the US. Interesting also that the Turks were facilitating the flow of arms and fighters to ISIS, and making a fortune off of smuggling ISIS oil. I think Obama’s hurt pride and Erdogan’s loss of revenue, combined with both mens’ narcissism, led them to a plan to strike back at Putin. This is personal for them, and it's going to be real personal for Putin. He's not an old Soviet-style, drunken, mindless, strongman. He's wily and ruthless, and he's won the grudging admiration even of many of us here who served during the Cold War, even though we should know better. 2016 will be interesting. I just hope we don't get caught in the crossfire.

Also, I do not believe a word coming out of the Pentagon, not a word.

US Military officer said he heard the warnings on the open communications channel.

The Russians are lying.
